November 2010 SAT - Experimental

Still confused about each section having two versions, so let's have a partial list of general topics (say, 4 topics/questions each) so we can figure out which ones were exp.
Since I'm not sure which exp. one I got myself, this may be slightly inaccurate. Update the list as you post.

*International not included

Writing
VERSION 1: Dragonwings, 14000 feet/3 miles, ?, ?
VERSION 2: ?, ?, ?, ?
EXPERIMENTAL: ?, ?, ?, ?
Just for people taking the SAT later looking for past prompts to study -
ESSAY TOPIC WEST COAST: Is imagination less valuable than facts and objectivity?
ESSAY TOPIC EAST COAST: Is it better to focus on doing something for yourself or others? (paraphrased)

Critical Reading
VERSION 1: Echolocation, College Athletes, Bats, Music
VERSION 2: Farmhouse, Deception, Fingerprints, Langston Hughes
EXPERIMENTAL: Festoon/solipsistic?

Math
VERSION 1: 7^1600, water hose, 100th row
VERSION 2: Multiple of 6/8/9, circle inscribed in two squares
EXPERIMENTAL:

Experimental for CR V2 is - Two Grandmothers who like to fight with each other .

I could’ve sworn the 7^1600/water hose question was on section 8, and that can’t be experimental.

^1600 was a different section than water hose for me.

And I have V1 math/reading but not the V1 writing you’ve listed.

^^^I cannot tell if you’re ■■■■■■■■ or not. If you’re not, then I’m sorry I didn’t have that section.

^Mind sharing some topics off of your writing section(s), and whether or not you think that may have been experimental or not?

My longer writing had a passage about a college student who brought board games and then joined a board game club.Other than that, I honestly don’t remember it.

My 10 minute had one that talked about a botanical garden in New York, one about a kid who grow up in Oakton that had a poorly placed modifier, and a sentence contrasting Rococo art with some other art style.

exact same as WingsReborn.

Same here. wingsReborn, did you have a math experimental section?

i got 1 for the circle inscribed in square?

version 2 cr(farmhouse)

i had something that dealt with literacy? mentioned homer and someone named plato i believe. not sure if this was langston hughes though

anyone confirm this was an exp?

Also, i don’t recall having a passage on finger prints

rikesh99 - You may want to check the other threads for the Q/As.
Thanks to all who’ve contributed.

Writing
VERSION 1: College student board games, botanical garden
VERSION 2: Dragonwings, 14000 feet/3 miles
EXPERIMENTAL: ?

Just for people taking the SAT later looking for past prompts to study -
ESSAY TOPIC WEST COAST: Is imagination less valuable than facts and objectivity?
ESSAY TOPIC EAST COAST: Is it better to focus on doing something for yourself or others? (paraphrased)

Critical Reading
VERSION 1: Echolocation, College Athletes, Bats, Music
VERSION 2: Farmhouse, Deception, Langston Hughes
EXPERIMENTAL: Festoon/solipsistic (confirm?) Fingerprints (confirm?)

Math
VERSION 1: 7^1600, water hose, 100th row
VERSION 2: Multiple of 6/8/9, circle inscribed in two squares
EXPERIMENTAL: ?

Well, for the CR I had deception and farmhouse, but instead of fingerprints and Langston Hughes, I had Quantum Physics and Caribbean culture.

Also, if anyone had V2 of the math, did you have an experimental math like I did?

And was the V2 writing the one with the drowsiness causes accidents SC?

I had Quantum mechanics, deception, fingerprints, and the farmhouse one. I’m pretty sure one ofthem is an experimental.

I don’t believe I had either of experimentals that you mentioned for Critical Reading. What is festooned/solipsistic referring to?

I had Quantum physics, deception, farmhouse, and Caribbean culture.

@americanslang I had the same one! Weird that there are two versions with the same two passages (farmhouse and deception). What was your experimental? Did you have the “Dragon Wings” writing paragraph?

I had v1 critical reading with the college athletes and bats
But I also had one about the drawing girl and her mentor
and one about a 20 questions game about clouds and scientists and stuff.
Maybe this one experimental?

I had nothing about the clouds and scientists…but I did have the College Athletes and Echolocation Bats, so I assume that your Clouds + Scientists article was experimental?

OMG YES! I SKIPPED LIKE 3 QUESTIONS ON THAT ONE! HAHA
btu did you have a drawing chinese girl?!

If you don’t have either, you probably either had an extra math section or an extra writing section as one of your experimental sections. If you figure it out, I’d like to add topic examples onto this list. ‘Festooned/solipsistic’ are sentence completion words that someone around this forum claimed to have had this SAT; since I had the same CR version as that person and did not have those words, I would think that they’d be experimental. However, I also believe myself to have had the CR experimental section, so I’m not sure.

MyInnerNerd - I had Dragonwings as well, but I thought that was in the writing section. That reminds me, right now I’m trying to figure out if everyone got either Version 1 or 2 of the entire test, or if everyone got one of two versions in each category. Same with experimentals.

Writing
VERSION 1: College student board games, botanical garden, Film?
VERSION 2: Dragonwings/Chinatown, 14000 feet/3 miles
EXPERIMENTAL: Pyramids in Egypt?
