Now I Know How the Packers Must've Felt...

As I'd imagine not everyone on this site pays attention to NFL, this post requires some explanation.

The Packers (NFL team) are 15-1 heading into the playoffs. A few weeks ago they were undefeated, but there was discussion among the fans and the Packers themselves that a loss or two might be a good thing considering how well they've been playing. At least then they wouldn't have to stress about going undefeated and potentially winning another superbowl. Things would be simpler. They could focus on their goals.

Sure enough, their loss came and while many were upset, it didn't hurt their playoff chances and the focus came back as strong as ever (they won their next two games and are in a good position to make another run for the superbowl).

Now, to the point: I'm no Packer fan, but there is one thing that the Packers of three weeks ago and I have in common--we're both "undefeated."

I worked my little hiney off to get to the point of having a 4.0 uw with one set of finals and another semester to go. With a 4.0 on my upcoming finals, I will likely get valedictorian.

But instead of feeling proud of past accomplishments--I am anxious. I'm worried about screwing up here and now and thus "wasting" three-and-a-half years of work. My peers have gotten into the universities they want to go to (and some of the ones I want to go to) but have done so with imperfect records. Needless to say, they are working for high marks--but are not necessarily concerning themselves with managing a 4.0 as I am. I feel stressed to the core. I kinda get the feeling that if I had a 3.9 uw GPA, things would be simpler. I wouldn't be so stressed.

I was wondering, can anyone relate? Is anyone in a similar position?

Thanks for listening.

Very hard to complain in your position. 3.9+'ers are stressed worrying about not having the 4.0. Because if you had the 3.9, you’d still feel stressed working AND have to deal with the stress of not doing as well as you want to which is mentally worse than fearing a loss.

I know the answer, get Aaron Rodgers to come to school and take all of your quizzes and tests for you.

Ding Ding! We have a winner! That was exactly the answer I was looking for!

So feeling like you have to maintain a 4.0 because you have one, and it’s perfect, causes you anxiety, so parts of you would really rather not have had one, but then your not willing to compromise it willingly yourself either to relive the anxieties.

Ummmmmm …

try to relax, read genetics, and in general do whatever you can to avoid occupying your mind with things like that ^. good luck :).
