Now or Later?

My sister applied to MBA programs straight out of undergrad and has received admission to some good schools (ranked 20-40 US News). Long term would it be more beneficial for her to work a few years and attempt to gain admission again to some better ranked programs? What is the general consensus on Cornell's Masters in Real Estate (1 year program)? She has jobs lined up either way, just unsure what the pros and cons would be for each.

To clarify: I know admission is not guaranteed in the future, but it seemed during her interviews that the one weakness in her application was lack of full time work experience.

I think if she wants an MBA, wait. If she wants a career in real estate, get it over with now. She can still get an MBA later. Just my 2 cents.

So, I take it that she is interested in Real Estate? It would partially depend on which schools she is considering now and where she would want to live upon graduation.

As for Cornell's MPS in Real Estate, it is a great program. The curriculum looks great and the quality of the students are great. They compete with students from top MBA programs for jobs, but it would be less ideal if she doesn't want to live in the Northeast. Most of their current 1st year students already had real estate experience (or architecture exp). The main negative of the degree is that it doesn't offer the flexibility of an MBA...ie if the student changes his/her mind and wants to work in a non-real estate related field.

BTW, Cornell's program is 2 years, not 1 year.
