Now What? After Acceptance

I was recently accepted ED to a top LAC. What do I do for the remainder of my senior year?

Despite the rigor of my schedule, classes are minimally challenging. My friends don't go out very often, we hang out maybe twice a week. I've been catching up on Grey's Anatomy and 30 Rock, and trying to read some classics to prepare for college. But I feel aimless after devoting all of my time to learning for the past few years. I'm a bit of a workaholic and now I just don't have any work. I feel like I've exhausted my current situation- the classes aren't challenging, the parties are repetitive, the people are the same people I've spent my entire life with. I feel like I'm stagnating.

So, what now?

Continue to do well in your courses (which should not be that hard if you do not feel that they are challenging).

Remember that your admission offer comes with conditions, like your final high school transcript showing good academic performance in your previously reported senior year courses.

Also, be sure that the financial aid and scholarships are sufficient to make the school affordable.

How about learning to play a musical instrument, go to a gym, learn a new language, volunteer…

Learn and master media tools: photography, videography, sound recording, graphic design. Two cents.

Do well in your classes, and then do whatever you want. You must have other interests–volunteer, learn something new, catch up on movies/TV shows, read a good book. There are things to do outside of college applications. Do things you enjoy but didn’t have time for with school and everything. Or learn something new that you’ve always wanted to try.

Maybe you can even do fun stuff with your friends before you all go off to college. Go paintballing, hiking, ice skating, whatever is available in your area.
