now what? (SAT II)

I just got my SAT II scores, 720 for Lit and 640 for Math 2. I'm okay with the Lit, but I'm not to satisfied with the 640. I'm probably going to take the Korean SAT II in november (I am korean). Should I retake Math 2, take another subject, or just take Korean and be happy with decent scores in Lit and Korean? Thanks...

yes retake Math 2

I second that. Absolutely take the Math IIc again, I'm sure that you can do better a second time. As for the Korean test, if you are Korean, don't expect it to count for much (if anything) with the colleges you apply to. Colleges absolutely look down on language sat ii's taken by native speakers. However if you are only of Korean descent and did not actually grow up with the language at home, that is certainly a different story.

no!!! don't retake the SAT II math IIc and don't take korean, this may seem odd, but don't you think a school would like a korean with low math score? i think that most people of asian decents score well above 700 on IIc, and here is a Korean student who gets 720 for lit, but a 640 for IIc, they may think that you are a campus diversifier :)
not a joke!!!
i am being honest and serious
i mean a 750+ on IIc doesn't mean anything either, so might as well just leave it. you probably got a better chance with 640. if i were you, i would not retake!!!
and focus on odd subjects like Latin or some other obscure stuff :)
best of luck

As I first read newbyreborn's post my first response was to be offended by his/her blatant stereotyping, but actually he/she has a point. I'd give it some thought, koushirou, and maybe don't automatically retake the math and sign up for the Korean but instead try something else, something a little different.

I don't necessarily agree with newborn

He's saying that an asian with High Verbal and LOW Math has a better chance than High verbal and HIGh math??

i don't think so...

geting a 640 math is low. it does not make u "unique" asian. it does not make their campus more "diverse" If they admit a highverbal/lowmath student than a highverbal/highmath student.

colleges have asians Both high verbal/high math. it does NOT give u that much advantage if u have highverbal/lowmath.

a 640 is not good at all. you Should retake it.

newborn, what do u mean 750+ doesnt mean anything??
it's MUCH better than 640. because 640 is just BAD (sry, it is lol). 750 is decent-good.

i would say retake it because it is a low score.
don't try to think of it as "oh, i may be unique asian because i have high verbal low math." ...it doesnt work that wayy all the time.

the higher score the better. duh.
and plus, u can easily raise Math II score. it's math. do practice test and it's raise-able.

oh, and take korean ONLY if you have pure confidence that u will score high on it.

750~800

otherwise, don't bother taking it

study for subject tests and get 800s ONLY

Some Korean students get 790 in Lit, 800s in Math IC, IIC, and Korean Language test..since this is the case nowadays, getting 640 in Math IIC and 720 in Lit sure does not make one an "unique" asian

of course, these are the ones who get into best schools

well, i'm thinking of applying to UCs (specifically i want to go to UCSD). As i understand it, UCs are pretty much all numbers/stats as far as admissions go. So would it still not make sense to just get a high score in Korean? thanks for your thoughts...

Yes. high score on korean.

MAKE Sure you don't go below 700.
(i'm sure u wont)

otherwise, you will have just proved urself not capable of being a true speaking korean lol

and yes, it will count as ur SAT II official calculating score.

so it will help u. take it.

retake the math

the UC's are focused on Writing -- you'll need a 700 there, as well, to really enhance your app for SD. Good luck.

btw: I rec you prep and take the math again.

shoot for the moon

get 800 on everything

hi

plz tell me how u prepared for literature!! 720 iz very good!!

which books did u use and which book imitates the real test best????

ur help will be appreciated.

thnx
