Has anyone done the NPC for Brown and seen it come out 50-60% higher than for its peer schools?
WE are above 110 AGI (but not by much) and it is shocking to find them as the most expensive on our list of 10 schools.
Does anyone know what the deal is? Especially since I was surprised by the college’s financial aid presentation that was basically if you’re in–“you can afford Brown”…

They have a smaller endowment.
<a href=“List of colleges and universities in the United States by endowment - Wikipedia”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colleges_and_universities_in_the_United_States_by_endowment

Brown’s endowment is 2.7B. Harvard’s endowment is 32B.

It’s not just the smaller endowment, it’s how Brown decides to allocate its financial aid dollars. Families with incomes under $100,000 are targeted more than those earning above $100,000. That’s Brown’s institutional priority. I think that HYP give more aid to families whose income falls between $100,000 and $150,000. If your kid gets into Brown and other schools give you better aid, Brown will reconsider your package and possibly match it.
