I have an nrotc interview next week and am wondering what I need to bring. The recruiter told me to bring my sat and act scores, my official transcript, and any awards that I may have. I wont be able to bring my official transcript to the interview because my school counselor is out of office. What else should I bring besides those things to be prepared? He mentioned on the phone about the AFA. Does that need to be taken prior to the interview? And does the entire online application need to be submitted by the time I have my interview? Thanks in advance for any help.

I took a paper copy of my application with me so the recruiter could look it over and offer any advice on improving it before I submitted it. I don’t recall hearing anything about an AFA. I can’t think of anything else that you’d need. Good luck!

The fitness assessment is a new requirement for NROTC this year. Yes, it is supposed to be completed before the interview. My DD didn’t have to submit one last year for NROTC, but did for AROTC scholarship. There is a requirement to bring a few other supplemental forms, I believe, to the interview, as well. One is the drug statement. Bring documentation of all of your accomplishments and go dressed for success! Good Luck!

In addition to any documentation, bring a GREAT ATTITUDE.

Make them believe that you think that there is nothing that you would rather do than to serve in the Navy, and that you will find a way to do so. If they think that you are just in it for the money for college… “fuggedaboutit.”

They are sizing you up as a person. The paperwork is an entry point, not the main point.

Thank you for all the replies. I had my interview today and it went great. I dressed in a full suit and the interviewer said he was impressed with my maturity. When he asked why I want ROTC, I told him that I want to become a career naval officer and still go to a civilian college. I also mentioned that my family isnt very wealthy and that the scholarship will help pay for college. After I said that he told me that kids who just come in looking for the free tuition dont get the scholarship but because I mentioned that I wanted to become a career officer he kind brushed it off. He seemed really impressed with me and said I had a very competitive application so I hope my tuition comment doesnt keep me from the scholarship. I did bring copies of my SAT and ACT scores as well as my transcript. I didnt need the AFA just yet. They just told me to get it submitted as soon as possible so that I can get my application reviewed by the board. Tips for anybody having their interview soon and are reading this post: Dress in a full suit and clean up nicely, bring a folder and a resume. My interviewer was very impressed that I brought a resume. Also, know why you want the join the navy, why you want rotc, and why you should be chosen for the scholarship. This is a link to the form that my interviewer used. http://www.cnrc.navy.mil/publications/CHECKLISTS/Officer_interview.pdf
Know how to answer and elaborate on these questions. Thank you all again for your comments.

Congratulations!

Yep, the suit and resume were smart moves.

Thank you! Hopefully I can get my application done by the time the first selection board goes through the applications.
