NSLDS Question

At the 4-year university, I was told to complete my loan exit counseling at mappingyourfuture.org when I left. I did this, and I called to ensure that they had received it. They did. Today, I looked at NSLDS and I am totally confused. For my grants, it gives the entire scheduled amounts, which are $5500 for the Pell grant, and $750 for the ACG grant. For my Pell grant, it correctly lists that the school does not have to pay the remaining $2775. However, it does state that the remaining amount to be paid for the ACG grant is $375. Should I call the NSLDS to have this straightened out? I am entering a new school in the fall, and I do not want anything to affect my chances of getting the amount of financial aid I need. For my loans, they are listed at IA. I know that "IA" stands for "loan originated," but what exactly does that mean? If I am not receiving anymore loans, shouldn't it read something else?

ACG is done after the 2010-11 award year, so there is no ACG in the fall. Don’t worry about that. If something is still scheduled but not paid, it’s not a problem.

IA for loans means the loan is originated. If it has been originated, it will stay IA. If it is canceled it will be coded CA … but if you had even one disbursement of the loan it must stay IA. If the loan was originated but never paid out, it doesn’t hurt anything for it to remain IA rather than being canceled … if you didn’t attend school or weren’t eligible to receive the originated loan (for example, if you were less than half time or withdrew before the loan paid out) it won’t pay out. Also, if it’s IA for 2010-11, that won’t affect 2011-12 at all … loans are typically originated by award year. You should actually be able to see the loan period in NSLDS.
