No problem. It will be a long wait now. And thanks, I wish good luck to you too! Hopefully you will be contacted with good news very soon:) and when you are, you’ll be very prepared for your interview after getting all this advice!

Hah thank you I’m putting all hope on that e-mail tomorrow or I’m supposed to call them

Well, if they haven’t sent you a rejection letter yet, chances are, you got in and the email just got lost somewhere in the middle of nowhere. My interview was practically identical to Klika’s (though a few questions were different). OH THE SUSPENSE OF IT ALL! Dramatical stage faint and collapses to ground

I totally became a semi-finalist today! So i’m excited now.

soresubject: Don;t worry. You got company. I think they are just running late and we will hear from them soon.

Congratulations Mikanena! Which program did you apply for?

Thanks for the encouragement Chewy…I am hoping for the best for you!

forest2000 - I sure hope so…

hey i have my interview this saturday. my first choices were russia and korea and i put china as my second choice. are any of you from new york?

Erm, I’m not from NY, but you have the same choices in the same order as me +_+ rawr. Good luck!

Soresubject, methinks you should call them tomorrow. If it’s this late, the email definitely got lost somewhere, or they just could not get through to you (my mom could not receive the parent recommendation until they manually did something, and she had hotmail. Yahoo has a few glitches, and I’m not sure about gmail. Try checking your junk mail box)

to nniiccoollee: I live in New York and I’m having my interview this Saturday too! O_O"

I guess I will call them tomorrow!
New Mexico applicants just heard back today so maybe Virginians still haven’t heard?
Oh - And I have Gmail so I usually don’t have any problems. :/

So that means anyone from the milwaukee area should have heard or hearing soon!

I applied for Korean, Chinese, Hindu. I didn’t specify any length, i’m open for anything, even though of course the year would be amazing to get!

It definitely would, I think India would be an awesome place to go!

The announcement for NSLI youth program status has been delayed to Feb 8. Stay tuned.

Ahhh, thanks forest.

my interview is tomorrow afternoon!

My daughter just got declined It’s a bummer but life goes on. There are many things out there. Good luck to all of you, especially soresubject. Please let me know if you got in.

Oh no, that is …rough. I hope your daughter sees this as a learning experience and her experience will benefit her applications in the future! Will she apply again next year?

I received an e-mail telling me about the medical evauluation form which I assume everyone received, yet no word of rejection/acceptance, and it said to call NSLI if that was my case. However, on the website it said I should call only if I haven’t heard word by Feb. 8th. Is anyone else in the same boat?

I called the number and no one answered so I left a message someone on connect.state.gov said there were no volunteers in our area so they confirmed she was a semi-finalist on the phone!!

Spike - goodluck! What programs did you apply for?

I haven’t gotten any notification up until now, so I called their office and it turns out that I’m a semi-finalist!!! I told the guy on the phone that he’d just made my day.

I’m a semi-finalist as well, congratulations :)

im applying for russia. the only problem is my parents are expecting me to get a job this summer to buy a car. if im away at russia, i cant. theyre completely against me going. suggestions?
