Sorry, I know this has been asked before, but I wasn’t able to find a straight answer. First semester of senior year my grades were ok, but second semester is what I’m concerned about. All my letter grades have stayed exactly the same in my classes except for AP Calc BC, which is currently a C- and is going to be a D soon (first semester I got a B). So will NU ask me to explain one D if I otherwise have all A’s and one B (I’m taking all AP classes)? Do I need to contact them about it, and if so what should I say? I’d appreciate if anyone who has personal experience/has concrete knowledge of NU’s rescind policy could help me out with this! Thank you!
From what I have read one C isn’t going to sink you but a D definitely could. I don’t know about NU personally, but yes, I think you’ll have to contact them if you’re pretty sure it’s going to be a D. But do you have time to get it back up to a C? It’s only the end of March…
Does you school send term grades on your transcript? My kids school only sends year end final grades. So you may be able to average that D out with the other terms. And you till have many weeks before the semester ends to bring it up.
@Emsmom1 @suzyQ7 I’m pretty sure they only send final grades. I won’t have the chance to raise my grade, though, because we just finished the entire course and took our final test today. From now on we’re completely focusing on prepping for the AP test so there are no opportunities to raise my grade…
What are all your term grades? Do you have 3 terms or 4?
@suzyQ7 4 quarters. 1st and 2nd quarter grades were
AP Lit - A
AP Psych - A
AP Stats - A
AP Calc BC - B
3rd quarter grades (and I know it’ll stay this way in 4th quarter too since we’ve completed coursework in all of my classes & are now just focusing on AP test prep)
AP Gov - A
AP Lit - A
AP Stats - A
AP Calc BC - C and pretty sure it’s going to drop to a D
B (3.0) + B (3.) + D (1.0) + D (1.0) = C (2.0) Final Grade
You should be fine. But Don’t get Ds both 3rd and 4th quarter and make sure your school only sends final grades and make sure the weightings are the same as I have above. Talk to your guidance counselor.
