Well, I asked UW admissions how many applicants they received for Fall 2013, and they received 30,000 total applicants. Yes, they had a 4,000 applicant jump from last year.

Wow…

I do not know what to say. Does this mean the acceptance rate will be for sure lower than last year’s 58%?

I don’t think the acceptance rate was 58% last year. It might have been, though. Maybe they’ll be accepting more? I asked how many they plan on accepting and they haven’t gotten back to me yet. I also asked where the jump was from. Hopefully the jump in applicants will be from international students since they have their own pool, which is what brings down UW’s acceptance rate (IS and OOS are both around 60%).

Ok well thanks then. That makes me feel a bit better. I got the 58% from US news best colleges (I thought this rate was from last year, although it doesn’t specify). I had no idea In state and OOS were at around 60%

Yah, an admissios officer told me they accepted about 45% of international applicants, so my guess is our acceptance rate will be in the 55%-60% range.

Any update on possible admissions percent/applicants UW will accept?

They told me last night that it is too early to tell how many they will accept. My guess is around half.
