<p>hey, im doing my schedule for next year, just wanted to get some opinions on how many ap's is makes a normal schedule a rigorous one. I go to a small, top public school in NY where 3 ap's is the normal limit unless one gets persmission. I am currently a junior and am in 3 ap's: AP USH, AP English Lit, and AP Stat and am getting an A/A- in all of them. We have no honors offered, with the exception of accel math which i partake in. The most ap's anyone has taken at our school is 6 in one year, i am considering taking up to 5, (if you add AP government to the list).
How would you gauge this schedule (9 period day)</p>

AP Physics B (C not offered)
AP Macro Economics
AP English Language
RAD LAB (pre-engineering elective)
Law/Ethics (S1/S2)
Gym (required)</p>
<p>Is that a rigorous enough senior schedule to aim for a top school like columbia, dartmouth, or duke or would you reccomend taking ap gov in place of law?</p>

<p>I think your classes look good. There is no normal number of APs since different schools have different offerings and expectations. You should always take at least the number of courses the best students at your school take (I'm not sure how many is normal for a nine period schedule). It also depends on what direction you plan to go on to in college.</p>
<p>It's fine. Make sure your counselor explains how rigorous (I hate his word) the courses are at your school and what the normal amount of APs is taken by a student so that your schedule is given some perspective. </p>
<p>Your courses are constantly increasing in difficulty and your grades are good. </p>
<p>Stop worrying.</p>
<p>Before you decide to devote so much of your senior year to all of that work maybe you should tell us what schools you're hoping on applying to and if it's even worth it to be taking so many AP's your senior year.</p>

<p>No history? No foreign language? Fine Arts?
I'd skip the law and maybe the economics or engineering to take these, or add them. What are you doing with the rest of your nine period day?</p>

<p>Then you should defenitly take as many AP courses as possible.Even if AP classes are considerd to be a joke in your school it's not as if the collge is going to know that.They'd probably just care about how they sound.</p>
<p>oh yeah i forgot spanish 5. ive taken all my elective qualifications. we're not offered courses like 'drama.' more like 'photo' and things liket hat. ive taken photo 1 and have no interest in photo or any of the arts ( drawing, painting, etc.). oh yeah i forgot to add im in science research (outside of school). i havent decided on my electives, b/c those are my secondary priortiies. i first have to make my schedule fit w/ the ap's and academics i want, then figure out which electives i want to take. especially b/c i go to a hs w/ ~350 kids, so courses arent available every period.</p>
<p>I think your schedule is good, Axman. I don't think you need any fine arts if you're not interested in them, and I also don't think you need to switch AP Gov for Law/Ethics, which sounds like a very interesting course not normally offered. With the addition of Spanish, I see no problems with your classes.</p>
