On the common app it says “Number of SAT scores you wish to report” and same for ACT. I took the ACT twice and my 2nd score was higher in all categories, so I wish to report only that score. So should I put 1? And some schools require all scores and I’ve already arranged for all scores to be sent to that school so is that ok? Because if I put 2, then what’s the point of score choice for the schools that do allow score choice if commonapp will just tell the school how many times you took it.
You can tweak the Common App before sending it to each school. Put down 1 score, and send your Common App to all schools allowing score choice. Then put 2 and send it to the rest of your colleges.
@NotVerySmart I read somewhere that you can only have like 3 versions of the common app to send to colleges. Is that true? I’m already sending 2 versions because I need to send different common app essays to different colleges.
I only put one (I’m in your same situation, but with SAT), and since you can only list your highest scores, it really doesn’t make a difference for us whether we put one or two sittings. For the colleges that require all scores, they’ll see your first score anyway with your score repot. For those that don’t, they don’t see that you took it more than once. The key here is that it says “wish to report.” To be honest, colleges don’t put much weight on the reported scores since they will get your official scores from Collegeboard. (Based on numerous articles online, friends, and current college students, I had the same question a while back ahaha).
That used to be true. not anymore.
I could be wrong, but I’m 99% certain this applies to the whole Common App, not just the essay. If you want to be certain, I’d contact the CA people at the link below.

It’s probably best to get in touch with them today, as I’d bet money that December 31st is the busiest day of the year for the folks who keep the Common App running.
