Nutmeg Scholarship

<p>Hello,
I recently received a letter from UConn saying they had received my application for the Nutmeg Scholarship. In the letter, they stated that from Dec. 3rd to the 5th they would be contacting about 15 applications for interviews. I have not been contacted yet, and I was wondering if anyone else has been. Also, to any previous applicants who received interviews, where you contacted on the first day of the range that said?
Thank you</p>

<p>My daughter is in the same boat. But 2 years ago students were contacted on the first date. Good luck to you!</p>

<p>Okay, thank you @snowberry42‌. Good luck to your daughter as well! </p>

<p>This is from last year: <a href=“Nutmeg Scholarship question - University of Connecticut - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-connecticut/1424859-nutmeg-scholarship-question-p1.html&lt;/a&gt;. Winners got notified just a week after the interview.</p>

<p>Awesome, let’s hope we get some good new today!</p>

<p>@1600mPenn, any update - just in case. </p>

<p>None yet. However, I called admissions yesterday and they said they would still be contacting people today so fingers crossed!</p>

<p>Looks like I’m not getting a call. Oh well. </p>

<p>My daughter did not get a call either. I imagine that this was an extremely competitive process and those that were selected must be the best of the best! I’d be curious to hear about the winners…good luck with your college selection!</p>

<p>I believe you are correct, @HuskyMom‌. I know that one of the Nutmeg recipients lasr year was accepted to Yale, so there’s no doubt it’s a highly competitive scholarship. Thank you, and good luck to your daughter as well! </p>

<p>Same story , no call…Wish it were different…</p>

<p>no call here either. I am curious as to if my november scores would have been considered over my october ones. UConns portal doesn’t say the number of test scores which has me concerned</p>

<p>Hi everyone! My daughter just texted me that her friend is receiving the Nutmeg Scholarship this year! So happy for her. Will see if I can ger her stats–I know as of now she is #1 in the senior class of approx. 200 students. She applied early to Yale and was deferred, but that is all I know. </p>

Hey, did anyone else get a letter from UConn thanking you for “submitting your application for admission through the Nutmeg Scholarship Program”? The letter went on to say that “Although you were not selected as a Nutmeg recipient, the Scholarship Committee would like you to know that your academic and personal credentials are very impressive. Your application is now being considered for admission as well as consideration for other University merit scholarships.” I’m just wondering if they actually meant that part about being impressed with my academic and personal credentials; or if they just sent out this generic letter to all applicants who did not receive the Nutmeg Scholarship.

My daughter got this same letter yesterday. Doesn’t mean that you’re both not outstanding and impressive though, right? I’m thinking this letter was their way of closure (ie You did not get the scholarship), but it was nice anyway. Nice to think you’ll be considered for other scholarships! Good luck!

If it helps anyone, I did get the Nutmeg this year. 2370/top 5%/unique ECs. Everyone I met at the interview day was incredibly accomplished and applied to the top schools in the country. I’m not sure how many out of the 15 are offered the scholarship, but I got the impression that it is the majority of those who interview, since not everyone will accept the offer. Good luck to everyone with other UCONN merit awards!

@HuskyMom‌ That’s a good way to look at it, thanks and good luck to your daughter!
@skooled77‌ Congratulations! Have you accepted and will you be attending UConn?

Thanks! I’m waiting to hear back from my RD schools, but I will probably end up accepting! @1600mPenn‌

Skooled77 Congrats! That’s awesome! It is a great school and I’m sure you’d love it there. My older D attends now and is very happy. Keep us posted!
