Nutrition for Pre med

hey guys do you think that Nutrition is a good major if i want to become a doctor while doing pre med. it is my strongest passion. (i believe that alternative medicine will be the future of medicine and diet is a huge factor when it comes to medical issues) How will med schools react? is it a good idea?

No, for entirely different reasons. Medical schools don’t like Specialized Health Sciences, and nutrition would be one of them.

As an aside, if you think alternative medicine is the future of medicine then an MD program is going to drive you batty.

^^^ I don’t think the op has enough knowledge of the medical field to even comment on what the “future of medicine is going to be”. No credibility on the subject.

Guys, just cos someone doesn’t have an MD doesn’t mean he/she has zero insight into medicine. And plus to sound credible on alternative medicine, one should have a medical degree. Otherwise one would sound like a witchdoctor.

I am resisting the temptation to comment.

Any liberal arts major is better for undergrad pre-med. If you like Nutrition, consider Columbia’s MPH in that subject.

But what do u think Medical schools will do if they see someone with a 4.0 gpa and 30+ MCAT score and majoring in nutrition

They will interview you if you have a 4.0 and 30+ in most cases.

I think you would will be fine with a nutrition major. But what do I know, I am just an MD who is a clinical prof at a med school…
