Nutrition Major?

I'm currently extremely confused about what I want to do with life, but getting a nutrition major is currently what I am most interested in. I don't want to be a nutritionist that just sits around and tells people what to eat, but I'm not quite sure what else I can do with this kind of degree.

Can anyone offer any sort of help? I'm also trying to look into possibly a list of schools that offer it as an undergraduate major but I'm having some difficulty.

It's far too much to think about!

You can major in Nutrition Sciences.

OR

You can major in Foods, Nutrition, and Wellness Studies

A lot depends on what areas you emphasize within a nutrition major and what related courses you take. Based on your post, it sounds like you don’t want to be a dietitian. If you have the right coursework, you could apply to medical, dental, or nursing school, or for graduate/professional study in a number of other areas in which a background in nutrition might be relevant: nutrition or certain bio-science fields, food science, public health, biological anthropology, health psychology/behavioral medicine, pharmacology & toxicology, health education, exercise science, science communication/journalism, If you don’t go for graduate or professional study, it might be relevant background for work in the pharmaceutical industry, the food industry, the hospitality industry, etc.
To get an idea of some possible range of options take a look at the School of Nutrition at Tufts [Home - Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy - Tufts University](http://nutrition.tufts.edu/) or at Cornell’s Division of Nutrition Sciences [DNS Academic Overview](http://www.nutrition.cornell.edu/che/DNS/academic/index.cfm)

The College Board link that the previous poster listed will help you find schools that offer undergrad majors. While there are a number of smaller/private schools that offer an undergrad nutrition major, you might find the the greatest range of options at the larger landgrant state universities, such as Wisconsin, Michigan State, UC-Davis, Cornell (part public/part private) and others.

I’ve recently been looking at this major as well; I’ve heard it can lead to medical fields such as Physician Assistant or physical therapist in addition to obvious careers such as a nutritionist or dietitian. However I’m not sure if its the best route to those careers=/. It does look interesting though and it seems a bit more flexible. I think with this major it might be easier to double major, rather than double major with say an engineering major. As for undergrad schools, one school that I’m sure has it is Cal Poly San Luis Obispo=)
