what are my chances of being accepted by UVA if i miss foreign languages requirement but have all of the other requirements completed with a gpa of 3.796?
Are you applying to Arts and Sciences? UVA’s articulation agreement with NVCC says this:
https://www.nvcc.edu/apps/1/transfersearch/gaasearch.aspx
Do you meet the FL requirement in any of the above ways? If not, I am not sure how much flexibility there is…have you spoken with your NVCC transfer counselor? UVA’s transfer admission counselor?
I don’t have any foreign languages because it wasn’t really included in my associates degree. But, I’ve heard that many people miss a few courses and still get in so I am not sure what a big deal this may be.
Maybe the cases that you heard about were xferring to a school that doesn’t have a FL requirement… engineering, architecture or nursing. It’s not a good strategy to rely on what you have heard, rather than what the actual requirements are.
Are you applying to Arts and Sciences? The website and articulation agreement says FL is required for Arts and Sciences. https://admission.virginia.edu/transfer/requirements
You do know FL competency is required to graduate from UVA Arts and Sciences?
I doubt any one on CC will be able to definitively answer your question which is basically ‘can I get in without all the stated requirements’…you need to speak with your NVCC advisor and UVA’s transfer admissions people…have you done that?
Edited to add: maybe you can find the answer on UVA’s transfer admission blog. http://uvatransferadmission.blogspot.com/
I know it is required for graduation but I am saying that I will finish those requirements if I get into the school. FL is something I could not do at my college. Althought, I will not be applying on a guranteed admission basis but rather competetively.
Given that you are not applying under GAA, I think you will be fine.
