NY and the students there: boring fake rich people?

I've come to a private school and I hate it. Everyone is the same (white, rich, boring, etc.) I'm wondering if anyone knows of any colleges that are more ... chill. maybe some people who party a little but don't live for it.

I know people at SUNY purchase, ithaca college, SUNY new platz, bard and other "artsy" colleges but none of those have nursing :( any ideas?

Try the CUNY schools, or maybe Pace.

U Rochester, perhaps.

Wagner. Adelphi.

All of the above have nursing.

Also, look at Stony Brook.

Why limit yourself to New York? Unless you are looking for a SUNY or CUNY for financial reasons?

If you are majoring in nursing, definitely look at SUNY Binghamton, or some of the smaller private schools in the Buffalo area (Daemen, D'Youville)

Why limit yourself to New York?

I think that it's actually really good that she's giving NY a second chance. It's such a diverse and culture-rich state; it would be a pity if she left with only memories of "boring fake rich people". Honestly, she'd be hard-pressed to find a more diverse state anywhere.

That said, I second the recommendation for Bing.

Why limit yourself to SUNYs in you're not a NYS resident? OOS tuition is high (compared to many other state uni systems) and the quality of ed low, especially compared to other flag-ship shcs (UNC-CH, UVA, UMich, UWisc-Mad, UConn -Stoors, etc.).

That said, I don't know where you got the idead that the LACs/Unis in NYS are less diverse than anywhere else. Likewisse, the schs are too numerous and diverse - - in terns of race, class, location and size - - to even try to generate a list.

foolish pleasure...the OOS tuition is not high for the SUNYs...its really low for OOS

Yeah. SUNYs are really cheap out of state. Like $12k. But I'm assuming she's instate, so she'd basically go for free.

The other schools you mentioned will probably cost the OP anywhere from $25k to $30k a year, a number of them DON'T offer nursing, and if diversity is what she's looking for, she's not going find nearly as much in other states.

If you are looking for SUNY school that has nursing, I'd recommend University at Buffalo. Large school with a diverse population and a well-regarded nursing program. Plus the upstate portion of NY and especially the Western New York region has a reputation of being less "uppity" than downstate. Not that I am saying that the downstate area is snooty- I know many people from there that are very nice. Please don't let your own school give you an unbalanced idea of what a typical New Yorker is like.

UPenn Nursing is Good If That Can Be One of Your Options.
