NY boarding school closing for financial reasons

The military schools never get much interest in CC, but just thought I'd pass on the news that the New York Military Academy in Cornwall, NY is closing due to a problem meeting their debt requirements, and some enrollment issues.

It is the alma mater of Donald Trump and was a fairly decent school.

I predicted last year that several of the lesser known boarding schools would fail this year. This is the only one that I have heard about, but I suspect there will be a few more.

It is a sad statement when “The Donald” didnt keep it a float…,he could of used the tax write off :-(.

Interesting! I guess all the students there will need new placements ASAP.

I wonder how that will affect the West Point PG’s.

did the donald go there??? aka the trumpster!!!

The West Point Prep school isn’t a high school. It’s a one year program for accepted cadets, basicly a PG year, that has been around many years, but in a different location.

Sad. And a little scary for those “under-the-radar” schools.

USMA Prep (AKA West Point Prep) is for promising candidates that were not admitted to West Point. It provides a PG year consisting of some focused academics (not the broad program of a “regular prep school”) and military training. At the end of the one year program they may be admitted to West Point based on performance. It is scheduled to move to the USMA reservation when Fort Monmouth, its current home, is closed per the last round of BRAC decisions. My nephew went to USMA Prep and it was a great experience for him. He’s now a successful member of the West Point Corps of Cadets.
