Hi,

I received this message from NYS TAP a few weeks ago even though I have submitted my FAFSA with both parent and my electronic Pin signature, along with corrections as well. However, why are they still sending me this message? Do I need to send the FAFSA specifically to TAP or something? I only indicated my colleges as the recipients for the FAFSA. Is it because there is an asterisk next to my EFC(meaning that it is being verified)? I don''t understand whats wrong.
Here;s the email they sent me
"
We are sorry that your New York State TAP on the Web on-line
application
cannot be processed because we did not receive your verified FAFSA
data.
This could be due to an error on your FAFSA application or because you
did
not submit the required signatures (paper or electronic).

What happens next: If you submit the necessary FAFSA corrections and/or
signatures (paper or electronic), we will mail you a paper Express TAP
Application (ETA).

If you have questions, contact the HESC Customer Communications Center
by
telephone toll-free at 1-888-NYS-HESC (697-4372) during the hours of
8:00 a.m.
and 4:45 p.m. eastern time Monday through Friday. The toll-free number

Thank you,

NOTICE: Please do not reply to this note."

I know this much. Once you file the FAFSA it takes a couple of days to get processed, 2-3 days normally. Then you get an e-mail from NYS TAP that tells you to apply. If you applied for TAP before getting the e-mail then maybe that's a problem. I don't know. Just a guess, because I believe the NY TAP is connected to the FAFSA in that once you file the FAFSA you can fill out the TAP, not the other way around. At least that's what I think. Someone can verify hopefully.

I didn't know that. I immediately filed the TAP after I submitted my FAFSA online.

Its been three weeks already and I still haven't gotten the TAP in the mail. What to do now??

First , I would check your FAFSA staus online at the FAFSA site . It seesm to me that you would really check that your FAFSA was done properly . I have time for TAP ....

OOps! YOU have time for TAP but get that FAFSA verified. Do you know that FAFSA has a chat online for help ( it's free ) ??

how will I know when it will be done getting verified? I've already submitted corrections with the exact data from the 2005 tax returns and have already received the Student Aid Report. However, I always get the EFC with the asterisk which means I am still getting verified. And the TAP still hasn't arrived in the mail yet

The aterisk near the EFC does not affect your TAP application receipt . I remember that it took a while for it to come - maybe correlating with the State budget in June .

At this point , with TAP , call the FA at the New York College that you applied to and tell her about your concerns with your TAP application .
