Can you please help me? I am scared that I won't get any $...

Okay, I thought that I had already successfully submitted my FAFSA application, so after I "submitted" my FAFSA I submitted my TAP application.

However, yesterday I received an email from TAP saying that they couldn't verify my FAFSA app to continue my TAP app process. It said that they will suspend my TAP app if they still can't verify my FAFSA app.

Today, I am 100% sure that I SUCCESSFULLY submitted my FAFSA app online. Do you think that they will still suspend my TAP app? Because it takes 3 days for FAFSA to verify my app.

Thank you very much.

I don’t know what TAP is – but I do know you are asking the wrong folks! Go back and email TAP and tell them that you have successfully submitted the FAFSA and ask for further advice/directions. Only the TAP people count. People on an internet forum have opinions but that doesn’t help you.

Even if some one posts from past experience that doesn’t mean that is what will happen for you this year. Be polite, be professional but also be quick to clear up any hurdles to the TAP people’s satisfaction. Good luck!

Did you print off the thing saying you had submitted FAFSA? And did you get an email saying you had submitted it?

^No, I didn’t get an email. I think I will receive it in a few days. Because it takes FAFSA a few days to finish the process, right?

You’re talking about NY TAP right? If so, then it should go through once your FAFSA is finished processing. You’ll get an email from FAFSA with a link to your SAR (student aid report). Once you have that, you can check your TAP status online or by calling HESC and make sure your TAP is in process.

There’s always a link to complete the TAP app at the end of FAFSA. For many, HESC will not let you complete it until the FAFSA is processed. This seems to work out best and HESC sends email reminders every few days, I can’t figure out why some people can complete and others can’t but there is really no advantage to filling out the TAP application in January vs February. TAP is not officially awarded until the NYS budget passes so don’t be alarmed if you see different estimated award amounts given by different schools. They will all adjust to whatever the correct amount is after the budget process is complete. There are several budget proposals that affect TAP right now.

Hope that helps…

After I submitted my FAFSA for the 1st time, I made a mistake so that they couldn’t calculate my EFC, and I made a correction later (but not anything about the EFC), so I received a SAR.

Yesterday, I finally realized that where I made my mistake and now they have my EFC (I made my 2nd correction), so obviously I haven’t received my SAR yet since I just did it yesterday.

Also, I filled out my TAP app online on the HESC website, not AFTER I finished completing my FAFSA app.

Am I still fine? I’m a little worried now…

You should be okay. Log on your HESC account or call them to verify your app is in process.
