NYU 2022

The only difference between the offered and accepted columns are the loans. Essentially, your accepted total are your rewards without loans and the offered total is the total cost of attendance. The difference (offered - accepted) is your loan.

@andyarrgz what were your stats? what major? That’s amazing…congrats!!!

@and2018 ahh thank u!!! i dont rlly have great stats haha my highest ACT was a 33 and as for grades, im barely in the top 15% of my class… maybe they liked my essays? i applied to the Gallatin school of individualized study!

my financial aid award includes an “anonymous scholarship” of $25k … what could this be?

@epicss Ugh. It’s a heartbreak. S was overjoyed one minute, and devastated the next. No merit, and a small federal loan. Is it possible that merit scholarships are being awarded separately? I’ve seen a few posted here this evening, but that portal did not update right away. Being hopeful here…

For those wondering about offered/accepted, you would obviously accept the merit scholarships and then consider the loan(s) being offered…

@lemmesleep your financial aid package is not that bad. Okay, so when you look at your financial aid package, you will see total cost of attendance is $74,000+ dollars, but here’s what I learned when being accepted ED1. First of all, tuition is about $50,000 and when they estimate the total cost, they do it as if you live in the most expensive dorm which is $18,000 but NYU has a dorm called Rubin which costs $8,500 per year, so if you live in Rubin, you’ll spend $20,000 for the remainder of tuition, plus another $8,500 for housing, and additional fees like a meal plan for $2500. So keep this in mind.

@andyarrgz the accepted column matters, that is the amount that NYU has chosen to give you.

S Waitlisted - Jazz but got into New School, Univ Mich, UCLA, U So Cal. UCLA it is! Good for me - in state public tuition

@YoungOne4 I don’t think merit scholarships are being awarded separately, but if I were you, I’d see if you could appeal in any way. I don’t know how effective it would be but I would just try anyway, maybe if some waitlist kids pull out of the line, they’ll probably offer you more, i don’t know though

@andyarrgz what was your EFC?

So I got into shanghai. I applied to all 3 cause it was the same app fee and cause why not. But it only shows shanghai. Does that mean I can only get into one?

@GiannaC3 6,000, but im gonna have to pay around 14,000…

Accepted NYC Tandon! 5k scholarship with pretty high EFC. Anyone know how well negotiating goes with NYU. I really want to attend but the cost is a bit deterring.

Oh yeah stats for anyone wondering -
34 ACT
3.68 GPA UW, 4.0
96.2 Numerical
Decent ECs

Thanks, @GiannaC3. I think I will take your advice.

Daughter was waitlisted…rejected from UCLA, UCSB, USC accepted to Syracuse, CSU Long Beach, SJSU and SFSU waiting on UC Irvine. She was happy for the waitlist after the rejections from all of her other top choices.

@heyomayo12 with a high EFC I don’t think it will work too well
