@nervousbean last year NYU estimated the cost to be $72k but that’s because they added in all the extra costs (travel, books, etc). The actual COA ended up being $68464. Although it’s still expensive the cost will not be $75k. They are estimating the cost of room/board because you don’t know which dorm you’ll be in. You can ask for low cost housing and that also will bring your cost down. Rubin Hall is the cheapest dorm because of no AC. If you can tolerate that for a couple of months you’ll be fine. They also have payment plans if you can afford the difference.
does anyone know if they’ll be taking any people from the waitlist this year? it was a very competitive year so I’m just wondering if they’ll even need extra people.
@Mmrosa. Right. Can you to explain me the logic of accepting some students over others but then making it difficult for your “first string” to meet the tuition requirements?
@YoungOne4 These schools have their criteria for selecting incoming students. I don’t think they deliberately make it difficult for students to accept their offers, Most of these schools are need -aware, but they can’t admit only those who can afford. They try as much as possible to optimize their resources and also assist the needy as mich as they could. Some of the parents of applicants also at times do not compute their incomes correctly when filling the relevant forms. There instances where waitlisted applicants were awarded al most free ride.
I mean I forgot the CSS, I didn’t receive anything. I went to the financial aid office, they told me I can’t receive any scholarship because it was late.
