just wondering if a texas applicant has more of an advantage than a massachusetts applicant to NYU ed 2008/9. I have family in the southern area but have lived in MA my whole life - would it be at all advantageous for me to switch my primary address to Texas? Clearly NYU would know that I am presiding in MA by where I go to high school... but would the Texas demographic help my admissions decision at all?

I suppose it couldn't hurt.... though at my orientation, a slight majority was still from the tri-state area. They have stated before that geographics were a plus, though.

If you're going to stay at the same high school in MA, I don't think it makes any sense for you to make your residence in Texas - it'll just look weird. Anyway, I think Texans make up the 2nd or 3rd largest group after students from the tristate area, so it wouldn't even really give you an advantage.
