Hi all-

I just auditioned for NYU CAP 21 today and I was just curious if your auditioner worked with you at all at your audition? After my songs and monologues, John (my auditioner) seemed to really like it, but he didn’t work with me by changing it up at all and having me do it differently - like i did at other auditions… what did they do with u?

THANKS!

mine just asked me to do one of my monologues a little differently...she didnt totally change it though....actually nyu was my first audition where i was asked to do something differently to my monologue.

Hey PRFRMR....sounds like a good audition experience. Try hard not to read anything into being asked to rework the material or not. I have seen it go both ways. My own kid (who you know) was asked to redo something another way at a school she ulimately did not get into (that you have already gotten into). At NYU, she barely redid anything...just had to sing the ending couple of bars to one song a different way. As you know, she now goes there. Often times, not redoing anything can be a positive....they liked what they saw, didn't need to see more. Other times, reworking something lets them find out more about you and what you can do. Stay confident. Did you run into my D today? Because another good male friend from camp who you know was also auditioning today and he is visiting with her. I don't know where they met up or if it was at the audition site or not. Fingers crossed for you. Just so you know, some auditions my D did redo stuff and some she didn't. The way the acceptances turned out did not fall into a pattern that way and some she got into where she did nothing extra and others she got into where she did more. So, the "more" doesn't mean yes, and vice versa no, as seen in just her case alone. You can't really compare one audition to another. Also each school or auditioner handles things a bit differently. Hope you had a good day. Best of luck.

Wow, I wish mine went like that. The lady who did my audition made fart noises with her armpit during my monologue. When I was done she told me she found it hard to believe I had any MT experience at all.

Oh my gosh! Are you serious? That is... pretty rude and unbelievable sounding.

At my audition she told me I was very "emotionally connected" and that I seemed like a Strasberg person. She also kept saying "if you decide to go here blah blah blah." I had the blonde lady and she was very nice. Did anyone else have her?

She didn't work with me on any of my stuff and it seemed like other peoples auditions were longer than mine, but I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know what to make of anything.
