NYU BA/DDS Program

^ same for me. I mean, if we get a 19 on the dat and get a 3.4 at a more prestigious university we will be bound to get into a dental school

It’s more like a 3.6 now. Most of the average GPA things are outdated. I’m still going with it because I like the idea of saving one year. Sophomore year is going to be hard, but it seems like Freshman year can pad the sudden GPA drop. Also, I don’t want to go through another series of applications and quite frankly, the kids who didn’t advance to dental school probably didn’t meet the minimum requirements.

Prestige is really a relative term as well. I’d rather do this then attempt to maintain a 3.5-3.6 in Cornell…

AGHH im having doubts too now…
I emailed Ms. Elizabeth Morris who’s apparantly in charge of the program admission…
she told me 58 people made it this year.

then I called the college of dentistry to see around how many come in for the interview, and they said 8 to 10, and sometimes even 5.

58 people… lol i’m def not going to go there anymore

So even if maybe half of the 58 ppl enroll, if only 5-10 make it to dental school how is that 80%?

Psh…

Anyone still going to NYU BA/DDS? I still don’t know whether I should go to NYU BA/DDS or just Rice as BME major!!! :frowning: Reading this thread made me re-think about going to NYU…it seems like I can be doomed if I don’t get into the dental school… lolol… and there’s high possibility that I won’t be able to get in… lol

I’m still deciding… Would you choose Georgetown health science or nyu 7year?

i really don’t know why you guys are freaking out. as long as you meet the minimum requirements you are basically guaranteed a spot. anyways, if you think about it, no dental program is guaranteed acceptance. keep that in mind.

if you guys didn’t know, a lot of dental school applicants overlap; because of this, out of the 58 accepted, 1/3 will probably enroll (19-20 people). out of these people, 25% will probably drop out of the program. that leaves you with 15 people. nyu probably upp’d their number of accepted for this year. that 10 people enrolling isn’t a set number lol

and you guys really can’t compare this program to georgetown/rice. the majors are completely different. do you want to become a dentist or not? are you willing to put in the hard work? georgetown/rice are both very good schools. it’s up to YOU to make the decision. nobody knows how your minds work like.

It’s a big decision, so obviously we’re worried over it. What do you mean by the applicants overlap?

There are tons of programs.
UoP 5/6/7/8 Year
NYU/NYU 7 Year
Adelphi/NYU 7 Year
Upenn/Upenn 7 Year
Lehigh/Upenn 7 Year
Villanova/Upenn 7 Year
Muhlenberg/Upenn 7 Year
Niagara/Buffalo 7 Year
Geneseo/Buffalo 7 Year
Stony brook
and more? These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
The list goes on and on, albeit the number of applicants accepted is small. Lots of the top tier students who know that they want to pursue dentistry will apply for several programs. Also, some programs will be harder to get into than others (pretty sure the SUNY ones are highly selective due to their cheap CoA).

I might be generalizing but the decision shouldn’t really be hard. Do you want to become a dentist? If the answer is yes, then just pick NYU. Otherwise if you want to explore other options go with whatever other college/university.

Hi! I’m attending and just made the deposit  who else is going? should we try making a fb group?

go for it. i want to see an estimate on how many people actually are actually attending

can’t seem to add without inviting friends first… do you guys wana PM me your names if you want to join?

There’s a Facebook discussion thread on the BA/DDS in the NYU 2015 thingy.

Just add everybody there into the group (if they said they are coming) and we’ll be set. A lot of Korean going on in there lol.

join the group!

Are the NYU and the Adelphi/NYU programs slightly easier to get into? or is that just a rumor?

This literally made my day today. It’s hilarious and so amusing to look back and see that we were freaking out about this. And I do have to say, the first year was hella easy.

Hi Everyone,

I am a senior in high school and plan on applying to NYU’s BA/DDS program this fall. My question is: if I’m rejected from the program, am I only considered a pre-dental major?

Thanks

You’re only gonna be considered a Bio Major, and that’s if you’re accepted to the school.

Hi,
I am a senior right now planning apply NYU BA/DDS Program as Early Decision.
Does anyone know what I should select on Common App NYU supplement to apply to this
program?
Currently, I chose (pre professional dentistry BA in Biology and doctor of Dental school with the college of Dentistry) but did not submit it yet.
Thanks
