Ok so I posted on here before but now I have new scores and grades so I hope I can get new advice:
I'm a white Jewish female from NJ.
SATs: 2210 (750CR 720M 740W)
SATIIs: n/a (USHis, MathIIc, Lit - projected 720+)
GPA: ~93.5 UW
APs:
11th grade - USH (all my school allows)
12th grade - AP English, AP Bio, AP Calc AB (usually school max is 2, made an exception)
ECs:
Student Ambassador Committee: 9, 10, 11, 12
Drama (actress): 9,11,12
Newspaper(reporter then World News Editor): 11, 12
Charity Committee: 9, 12(Committe Chair!! yay!!)

Work Experience:
Counselor in Camp during Summer: 9,10,11
Youth Leader at Synagogue: 8,9,10,11,12

Well, thats pretty much it, I know my ECs are lacking, and I don't have any sports (is that a huge deal?) but I was hoping I could get some advice on my chances at the following schools and any other possible match schools. Thanks! (these are in order of wanting to go-ness)

Barnard
Columbia
NYU
UPenn
Brandeis
U of Maryland
Boston U
Rutgers

Looking good. I think you are covered with safeties-Rutgers-Boston and U of Maryland. And you have a decent shot at the others listed Show your interest to the other schools. Visit and try to set up an interview (if possible). If Barnard is def. your first choice- and financial aid is not a factor maybe you should apply ED?? I think that would clinch it. Good luck.

I like your choice of schools. My very unscientific opinion:

Rutgers, BU and UMd you're in. I'd call NYU and Brandeis matches, you should get into one or probably both of them. Barnard match/reach, because you're EC's and GPA are good but not outstanding. Penn and Columbia reaches for sure.

Have you thought about applying to a midwestern or western school or two? There are a lot of kids from your area applying to the schools on that list. Applying to, say, Macalester or Northwestern would provide some geographic diversity.

lol thanks simplefallout, thats always an ego boost.
ohiomom, thanks that really is good advice but I need somewhere with an active jewish life and that really tends to be alot more on the east coast. Plus I don't really want to stray that far from home because I need to travel home alot for Jewish holidays.

cool2bars,
ah, you like your family! I think your list is fine as long as Rutgers is ok as a safety. Make sure you do a good job on your essays and applications, and I think you will have several lovely options next spring.

lol I think you might be pushing it with the 'liking my family'. Its more about convenience - most of the Jewish holidays require ALOT of preparation. :)
But seriously though, I don't want to go to Rutgers, its really a last resort safety. What are my chances at my top four schools?

I think you will be admitted to 1-2 of your top schools. If you don't like Rutgers, find somewhere else with an admissions rate around 50% or more where you are well into the top quartile of applicants. Do you have to be able to drive home for holidays?

Yeah I do, especially since its so often (September - 2x, October, March, April, June), so it would cost too much to fly, plus its also nice to be home for Sabbath a few times a year.
