NYU (CAS) ----> Cornell (CALS)..... Good switch?

Hey all,

I'm currently at NYU. Obviously, I wouldn't go from a school like NYU to say a community college.

So how would this change sound- NYU (Arts and Science) to Cornell (College of Agriculture and Life sciences)?

CALS is a subsidized private school. But it IS Cornell.

What's your thoughts?

I will warn you not many people on these boards, or in general, are receptive to people who already go to a top tier college transferring. I am at the UofC, which is in the top10-15, and i had thought about transferring and now realize it is not the right thing for me, but anyone i have talked on boards etc is not receptive. they think it is petty, and how dare someone who is already at a school many people would love to go to leave for anyother such school

HOnestly, NYU is a great institution. BUt in many ways, its such a hyped up school. I dunno if you saw this, but NYU was the number one dream school on some Princeton Review survey. but anyway, I go to NYU CAS, NOT stern, NOT tisch.

thanks

I completely agree with you. I'm in SCPS and i don't think that certain departments deserve as much merit as Tisch and Stern...and the endowment reflects that...so i wanna go somewhere where my major is a high priority. and not to be another person paying the 40K tuition.

so are you a freshman? where do u intend on transferring to?

yeah im a freshman. I may go to Tufts, BC, or UVA. definitely a smaller school...im from virginia but ive always liked Boston. so we'll see...

Okay... phoniex thank you for clarifying things. I posted about a possibe Cornell to Tufts transfer and got no responses, now i know why. And for any of these people who would "die" to go to some name brand schools (pretty hard to attend classes when you're dead), don't. Go for the best fit, not a name, seriously. You will be much happier and save big time.
