NYU CAS Econ VS Fordham University finance

Hello all

You may have seen this post in another forum, but I’m in a slight dilemma because I am deciding between two schools: NYU College of Arts and Sciences and Fordham University Gabelli School of Business. At NYU I want to take Economics at CAS, and at Fordham I want to take Finance. I’m looking to enter the business world (wall st). Not really Investment Banking or trading, but I’m leaning most towards Asset Management and Equity Research (because of best work-life balance/pay/ exit opps, and honestly I’m much more attracted to the type of work).

Like I said, my 2 options for schools are NYU CAS and Fordham GSB. At NYU I was placed into the liberal studies program where I would do 2 years of liberal studies courses and a couple of elective courses where I can start my Econ 1 classes. After my 2 years at the LSP program, it is an automatic transfer to CAS where I would graduate with a degree in economics and minor in business studies. At Fordham, I would just start and finish with finance at the school of business and most likely an economics or computer science minor.

I know with a good work and networking ethic, you can get a great job and internship from NYU CAS Econ. I’m not too sure how Fordham finance places. Personally I’m leaning more towards NYU because of the resources, alumni network, prestige, economic program ranking, and its track record on Wall Street. I’m a little bit iffy about the 2 years in the liberal studies program though. But I still do like Fordham as a school. Also, If this info helps, I’ve got pretty good connections to many BB banks and HF/PE’s (Most of my best friends dads are MD’s and Fund managers. Ill definitely be calling them back.

What do you guys think? Feel free to ask any more questions to know more about my situation.

So basically: NYU CAS Economics (from liberal studies program) VS Fordham Gabelli School of Business
