NYU, Columbia, Macaulay, GWU, Howard, CCNY Chances? (Junior)

I just wanted to gauge what others thought about my chances of getting into some schools based on what I've accomplished so far... which isn't alot. D:

I'm African-American and Latino (My mother is Panamanian and my father is from St. Vincent) if that changes anything...

SAT: Took the March SAT, and the scores aren't back yet
My practice SAT was an 1860

Classes
I've left out silly classes... like gym.

Freshman:
World History CP (Final: B+)
Earth Science CP (Final: B+)
Honors English I (Final: B)
Honors Algebra I (Final: B)
Spanish 2 CP (Final: A+)

A word about Freshmen year. I moved to this town from Brooklyn from a highly selective middle school, in which there were only two classes to a grade, and all the classes were at the honors level. When I moved to Roselle Park, they told me CP was basically equal to my Honors, and being a silly 7th grader... I didn't question that. Thus the plethora of CP classes for this year, and the next.

Sophomore:
United States History CP (Final: A)
Biology CP (Final: A)
Honors English II (Final: B+)
Honors Algebra II (Final: A)
Geometry CP (Final: A)
Spanish 3 CP (Final: A)

A word about this. I was given geometry at the CP level due to scheduling conflicts. Having doubled up in math, the Honors Geometry class was that the same time at the Algebra 2 Honors.

Junior:
English III Honors (So Far: A)
AP Biology (So Far: B+ - A)
AP United States History (So Far: A)
Spanish 4 H (So Far Most Likely Final: A)
Chemistry H (So Far Most Likely Final: A)
PreCalculus H (So Far: B - A)

As far as my GPA, at the end of Sophomore year, it was a 3.6, unweighted.
I have a fair amount of concern with that given my school's... well, stupidity. All of the Spanish classes up to 3 are CP, so there's no way of having those at an honors level, and given the whole scheduling conflict with Geometry, it might also bring down the ultimate GPA.

I don't know if the classes next year count, but so far, I plan to take:

Physics H
AP Chem
Social Justice
AP Calc AB
AP Spanish
AP Euro?
AP English

My whole thing about classes next year is one, I don't know if they'll even be there next year given Governor Christie hates public schools, and those are really the only classes I can take given that most electives in my school are at the Standard level, which could possibly bring down my GPA.

Extra Curricular:
Track (10)
Ecology (10-11)
Students Always Showing Support Club (10-11) (President 11th)
Spanish Club (10-11)
CARE (I have no idea what that stands for, but it's a multicultural club) (11)
Powerback (11) - It just got started this year, and it's basically an anti-domestic violence club
Future Health Careers Club (11)
LFD (Lead for Diversity) (11) - I'm not in the club, but I was picked to help with their action plan in our town's middle school to spread awareness about hate crimes.
- While doing that, I was trained in facilitating group discussions.
Spanish Honors Society - (11)
RYLA (Rotary) (11) - Basically, I went to a camp sponsored by Rotary for young leaders.
Taekwondo (9-10) - This took up a chunk of time, but was ultimately too expensive to keep up)
Academic Honors/Excellence

A lot of the awards and stuff are given out at the end of this year, so I have to wait a little longer for the full list.

So how far of a reach are these schools for me? D:

afr am will help

Sorry, I’m not up on the acronyms and stuff. What is afr am? D:

…

African American.

Haha. Oh. >_____>

That means that being African American will help, you are a combination of two minorities which raises your chances of admissions. The upward trend in your GPA is really good. Do you have a class rank to help with chancing?
Schools are aware of courses offered and if you take all the AP’s offered, they will not penalize your app for not taking courses that weren’t there. Classes next year do count, and if you’re on the fence about AP Euro, just keep in mind that it covers about 500 years of history on one exam so you need to remember a LOT of little details. It is a fun class though.
Your EC’s are great though!

Oh, you make me happy! ;D
We don’t learn class ranks until early next year I think, but my English teacher said I should ask later on this year just to make sure. My class is pretty competitive though… well as competitive as it can be for a class of 140 or so. We’re the first class in a while to require two Honors Precalc classes and because of us, they are requiring entrance exams to get into AP English and Spanish. However, this year, I am one of the top students, so if that counts for anything, I think I’m about number 2 based on this year, but with how poorly I did in the first two years of high school, I’d put myself at 10 at the very most.

I am planning to get more involved in walks for HIV/AIDS and cancer and the like to add to my EC, and I want to volunteer at a local ambulance station, just cleaning out the bus and stuff, so that’ll add hours. I’m pretty sure I’m getting into NHS, so I get community service hours for tutoring with that, and I started to do some tutoring on my own time to get some extra money just recently.

As for Euro, NYU says it requires 4 years of history so I kind of need it I guess… I have no problem learning the stuff, I just don’t like the teacher.

Which Macaulay are you applying to? If it’s CCNY, then I’d say you have a pretty good chance. I know someone who got in with grades that weren’t even as good as yours and an even lower SAT. You’ve displayed a nice upward trend and are a solid student, though perhaps not at the level where I can declare you a shoo-in at certain schools. And for Howard, you’d probably qualify for some scholarship money (I got Presidential with some higher stats; you’d prob. get the one a notch down).

On a scale of 1-10 (10=highest; 1=lowest)

NYU: 5
Howard: 10
Columbia: 3
GWU: 5
CCNY: 10
Macaulay: 6

What do you think I should do to up my likelihood of getting into NYU, GWU and Columbia? D:

dude you are like an actual hook. do you look like this —> J

I have no idea what you even mean by ‘hook’. :[
