Ok, about midterm grades....they usually only ask for them if you are applying to stern because it is one of the top ten business schools in the country. Most Ivy's and tier ones will request them, so all of you who need to submit them, don't worry!!!

Yeah, I agree that mid-term grades alone should not be a "good" or "bad" sign. They do it for Stern, and that's only in the case (usually) that you are taking one or more of the required courses that semester.

Ceruleanne - I'm thinking that 2nd-tier acceptances, if we're right, won't be sent out until may 3rd or may 4th at the earliest. That's just my gut feeling. After that I'm thinking those acceptees will have to report with a decision by late May, with one last small group of acceptances going out in early June, if the trend follows previous years. Of course, most of this applies to Stern transfers only, I'd think. I imagine all others (CAS, Steinhardt transfers) will know by mid-May at the latest.

I spoke with an admissions counselor and they informed me that the process is completely random and that there are no tiers, so I am sure the admissions board haven't reviewed your application yet if you haven't gotten a letter

well i'm a junior transfer to the college of arts and science and was asked to submit my mid-term report. But like I said before, not being asked to submit your mid term report isn't a bad sign. If anything, I feel like those who weren't requested for midterm report had a better chance at getting in.

I talked to NYU today and they said that we can all expect to hear from them starting late april which is probably now to the first 2 weeks of May. So I think we shouldn't be worried too much about it.

also, Als0310, it doesn't make sense that there are no tiers during the admission process. All the applicants that were accepted so far had great stats. also, a friend of mine who was at johns hopkins and transfered to nyu told me he got his decision mid april. I think there are tiers. Personally, i think those that were admitted so far had really good stats or had really terrible stats. For those that didn't get a decision yet, I think its based on the responses that they get from the inital accepted group so that they have an idea how many more people can be admitted. I also think, from this point on,that the deciding factor will be comparing each applications to another , and admitting those that they think can best succeed at NYU.

I think tiers makes more sense too--it also gives me a sense of comfort. Hopefulyl I still have a chance--I never considered myself top tier anwyay. Sooo let's all hope for the best. People still waiting, would you consider yourselves top tier? Also, where are you trying to transfer from? I'm at kenyon college right now--so I'd be going LAC to big U.

Honestly, I would consider myself low tier. If it was just my overall GPa, I wouldn't even dream about applying to NYU. However, I have an excellent in-major GPA (3.7) through 3 years of college. Also im hoping that transfering as a junior is easier to get in than transferingas a freshman or sophomore. Also I have great ECs, i've participated and been part of numerous studies in my school and I expressed this in my essay that I would continue my current undergrad research at NYU if I were to be accepted.

well I hope we both get in. What are you studying by the way? I'm interested in so many things.. that's why I applied to gallatin. I'm just a freshmen right now, by the way...howeveerr even if I don't get in, it gives me hope that you're a junior. At least i have a chance later, which i suppose, I kind of forgot about.
hey! do you know what's weirddddd??? I picked up a fortune cookie a few days ago that said, "A heavy burden will be lifted with a phone message or a letter." I thought it was a sign anyway

wow, u know I always like to say
things happen for a reason =)

I heard on May 6 from NYU and just sent in my acceptance reply for the fall today! See you in September!
