^^ Same with Gallatin, please!
did other people who got deferred have nothing show up on the portal? i only got an email (which is weird because they specifically said decisions wouldn’t be emailed, then again i guess a deferral isn’t really a decision)
@Bryan15 I was accepted to Stern ED2.
Got deferred. I applied for Tisch, Film Production. I wonder how many guys are deferred by Tisch? It’s quite weird since my stats are highly above Tisch’s line (and I can’t update any further materials except for new grades), thus if they don’t like my portfolio they could just reject me.
@AlastairYang i got deferred for film as well, did anything show up on albert for you or did you just receive an email?
@tarantinq No, I only received an email, as all of other deferred applicants did. I don’t know what they particularly want for Tisch deferred applicants. Maybe just to watch our works among a larger pool?
@figgie13
I just got accepted to Gallatin with a 90 GPA and a 32 ACT. My common app showed that i participated in a lot of community service opps. and helped in many different areas of clubs. I also showed varied interest in many different types of hobbies and outside of school activities. Gallatin wants to see someone who is able to take his own initiative and not be afraid to expand to multiple different areas of education/activity.
@Jackets1 Thanks for your help!
@figgie13
No Problem!
I got straight up rejected to NYU for ED2 and I had a 1310 which is okay ish sat score and a 99.28 weighted GPA and a 96.5 unweighted GPA. Honestly it might have to do with the fact I’m Chinese it sounds awful but it’s just really harder to get into NYU when u r Chinese and didn’t get a 1500/1600
I’m Chinese as well but I have to say 1310 is pretty hard for a person of any race to get into NYU honestly. Your rationale is not legit at all bc many black and Latino kids get into NYU with way better sat than yours. Hope that wasn’t too harsh.
@jesstennisxx That is just not true. I am chinese with a 1400 and a 3.5, and was accepted ED2 into CAS. Don’t blame the demographics, especially since its NYU which is known to be an accepting and diverse school. Your 1310 is relatively low, regardless of which school you applied to inside of NYU.

Also applied RD to Tufts, BC, Wesleyan, Dartmouth, USC, UPenn but NYU has been the absolute favorite and feel very luck to be accepted with FA. Also applied EA to Kelly School of Business at Indiana Univ. and got direct admit, but definitely NYU.
Hi,
I got deferred from NYU CAS as an econ major (ED2 to RD). I was wondering if anyone knew how many people get deferred (especially since this year NYU had the largest applicant pool). Also, what is the percentage of people get admitted after being deferred? Any info on this will be very helpful. I couldnt find much online about NYU deferrals…
After ED1, the dean of admissions published a blog post saying approx 400 people were deferred to ED2 or RD and that it was because of the new SAT and needing to compare scores with a larger cohort. That blog post has been taken down but someone copied it here if you scroll back through the forum. I don’t know how many more they deferred from ED2 to RD. Nobody is really saying much about this other than it was an unprecedented number. I wish there were a little more transparency. I don’t understand why they deleted the post on the admissions blog. Maybe @NYUAdmissionsQA can give more info. It seems the admissions office had more info at one point but they’re not really saying much.
probably super late to post here but got rejected and i just wanted to know if anyone here plans to transfer
yeah if i dont get in (i was deferred)
im going to transfer sophmore year
did you get in?
