@dancemom2024 yay!!! Congrats to her! I’m super excited for them.
@ysokol so you’re saying that they admitted a majority of waitlist students on the same day as regular decision students were admitted last year? So I’m assuming that is March? Because the email I got said May.
I put NYU new york as my first choice. I was a recruited athlete but got accepted into NYUSH. Can someone explain how this happened? I have a 3.66 and a 27 and NYUSH has an average ACT of 33.
My son is in the same boat (minus the athlete part). It is an amazing opportunity though- I am little worried since he has a sever peanut allergy!
@momstress2020 , congrats to your D too! Now we can cancel all upcoming audition trips!
Congrats to all ED acceptances!
Any Clive Davis student?
@RudyStonisch - admissions to the campuses are done serially. When you choose a first and second choice campus they will consider you for your first choice and, if not admitted, then consider you for your second. So you were not admitted to NYU NYC and you were admitted to NYUSH. I don’t know how being a recruited athlete plays into that? I seem to remember that NYU doesn’t have designated admissions slots for athletes. I hope you really did want to attend NYUSH and it’s a good fit for you. I think the alternate campus confuses a lot of applicants.
Thanks so much @momstress2020 - if you have any questions on housing or what move-in or starting up in school is like, feel free to PM me or start a thread. This is such an exciting time and I am just thrilled for you and your D!
Yes, @beachgirl2189 . I received my response from wait-list in march on IVY Day. 350 were taken off that day which I believe is the bulk of the WL acceptances
Applied to Steinhardt for Childhood Education and Special Education and got waitlisted. I got a 30 on the ACT but have a 4.99 weighted GPA and have taken 8 APs plus I have student teaching experience. Does anybody have information on what the waitlist decisions will look like? The email said they will update in May but I’ve seen a lot of comments in this discussion board and others about how people get decisions in late March. I also said I would be happy to go to Liberal Studies in all locations, plus I added another prospective major on my waitlist form. Is it pointless to hope about getting in?
I applied to CAS for Politics and got waitlisted as well. I’m really hoping they accept a good amount of students off the waitlist this year.
What were your stats, if you don’t mind me asking? I read that last year they accepted the majority of waitlist students to Liberal Studies and Steinhardt, so I’m praying they have enough space.
1470 SAT (770 r/w, 700 m) 3.58 UW, 5.11/6 W. I said I would go to Gallatin and LSP as well in my waitlist form
@gconboy the way I’d interpret your waitlist in light of you stating a number of alternates, is that they really think that Steinhardt would fit you best if they can offer you a place at NYU. (Last year it seemed to me the majority of the waitlist was Stern and Steinhardt.)
stern freshmen here- congrats to everyone who’s been accepted to nyu!
btw if you want to rep your new home for four years I have an NYU Lulu polo I bought last year but never wore bc it’s too small lol. if you’re interested here’s the link: https://grailed.app.link/KQ791OrFo2
So adding another education major in Steinhardt would reflect positively, or not? Sorry, just very nervous over here!! Thanks for your help.
Hello friends, so I got admitted to NYU Shanghai. Is there anyway I can perhaps negotiate a transfer to the New York campus considering that I live in New York City. Are campus transfers possible at all?
I did
@gconboy - was your “why NYU” essay very focused on Steinhardt/education? I’m assuming they will reassess your application in full again so I’d say just see if alternates make sense.
@2251yuiiug the assumption is that if you listed a campus on your application you’d be happy to go there. From what you said, is it correct to infer NYUSH was an alternate choice? If so bear in mind that you will only have been evaluated for it if you were not seen as suitable for your first choice (and of course if it’s an alternate it’s not binding). You can request a transfer of campus, but I think historically these requests have had a minuscule chance of success, and if you have already been evaluated and passed over for your primary choice you’d probably be out of luck, unfortunately.
