I've been accepted to the LSP program with a 22,000 scholarship which is reasonable for me, but anything less than that is not. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about their financial aid experience and the likelihood of this being close to the actual amount and carrying over in the next three years. I've read so many negative and positive reviews about NYU as a whole and I'm so confused. I need to decide on a college soon and NYU seems like it would be a great experience, but idk about this financial aid..

You should call the NYU financial aid office, find out who your award counselor is, and thank him/her for the award perfusely and ask what you can expect in the future in terms of aid. You should also go personally when you get to the school and visit the financial aid office and make sure they have a face in mind that goes with the paperwork, and ask to work with them when the aid renewals come in.

As a rule, and this is a very general rule, colleges tend to stay steady with their awards as long as their is no substantial change in family financial circumstances. Cost due tend to go up at the college, and they also tend to expect students to become more personally responsible for the costs, so it will cost you more each year most likely, but not a huge amount unless there is a change in your family finances. One does not tend to get guarantees on financial aid as a rule because it does change when the family income/assets change, or if family starts a business, gets an award, or has another student in college that graduates, or a parent gets married and a step is in the picture, just to name a few examples of what can change the picture.

The statistics for NYU aid look very similar for freshman vs. all students. So unless your financial situation changes, it seems reasonable to expect that your aid would be about the same.
