People with different things got both accepted and rejected in ED1. Meaningless.
does anyone have anything new in their housing?
I’ve never been this nervous around this time of the year
I have summer and spring 2019 in my housing portal
Accepted into CAS as a Physics major and an astronomy minor. I’ve lived in NYC all my life, and plan on commuting.
GPA: 90.6
SAT: 1270 (superscored, 700 English, 570 math)
ACT: 25
Ethnicity: First generation college student, both of my parents are Ghanaian immigrants (west Africa). I applied with HEOP but didn’t get an interview…?
APs: Calculus, English, and US History (3/5 of the AP classes that my school offers, and my school only allows that students take 3 at a time)
ECs: Gaming club for three years, Sports theory club, tutoring, and teaching children’s Sunday school at my church since 2015. Plus, I’ve had an internships every single summer since college began (I attached my resume to my college application)
Essay: I wrote about the irony how I want to study space, but have never actually seen a star before (due to light pollution in the city, but also financial barriers in my home area). I made sure that my passion for astronomy really left an impression. My why NYU response was about admiring NYU from afar, but realizing that my work ethic would help me fit right in.
Rec’s: One of my former employers from an internship, my guidance counselor, my AP English teacher and my AP US teacher
Hi @loverose4565 any good news?!?
@estherofrivia did you get in through heop because you said you didn’t get an interview. So people do get in through heop without an interview?
if you were admitted, let me know because im trying to find nyu heop students
@Selenarahman I indicated on my application that I wanted to be considered for HEOP (immigrant minority parents, first gen college student, female). I was keeping up with these forums, and everyone was saying that they got invited to HEOP interviews. I never got an email asking for an interview even though I applied with HEOP, so I just assumed that they rejected me. But, on the 14th I got my acceptance email and it didn’t mention heop at all.
Hey guys! Does anyone have the contact information for anyone in the opputunity program. I’m really nervous because my grades and sat score are fit for heop but not compatible with the rest of the applicant pool. I have a 1240 and a 3.5 after translated from IB. Thanks y’all
@Selenarahman
This is the link for all info about heop: https://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/how-to-apply/all-freshmen-applicants/opportunity-programs/admissions.html
I have the contact information for the senior director of opportunity programs which is Anna Chavolla Ortega. Her email is anna.ortegachavolla@nyu.edu
Thanks @nickystarblue
Hi everyone, I have 1200 SAT, 4.0 GPA.Lots of extracurricular activities: Newspaper, history club etc, my family income fits criteria and SAT score. I am a New Yorker. I just had my interview today. I applied to college of arts and sciences. It wasn’t too bad, the interview. Good luck everyone!!
@lunablue1 I’m glad you had a good interview. Do you know when the last day for the interview is. We’re you given several dates to choose from?
Hi Everyone–I’m an NYC-based journalist looking to interview high school seniors who will be first-generation college students next year. It’s for a book on first-gen students that I’m writing for Macmillan publishers. If you’re interested in sharing your story with me, I’d love to hear from you: jnymlr (at) gmail (dot) com.
