Wanted to start a discussion for just heop applicants . To share your stats and school that yor applying to.
Its for all heop applicants
Hello, I applied HEOP.
SAT 1100
GPA 92
A few AP classes and good recommendations.
I heard that NYU sends emails for the interviews. Has anyone received an email yet?
@iitsamemario Hi I haven’t yet . What are you applying . Ed1 or 2?
Ur stats look like u will get in . Let me know how everything goes
I am applying to ED1 and for Politics. It seems like they already sent emails for information sessions but I have not gotten one yet. Still have high hopes they will invite me.
I applied ED 1 for stern. I got an invitation to attend but my stats are GPA:90 SAT:1480 with 800 MATH 2 SAT and 710 CHEM SAT, a wide range of extracirrculars and rec. I was wondering if this heop interview thing will boost my chances of acceptance. Thanks in advance.
The heop interview will boost your chances if you make a good impression @idkkk2018
And @iitsamemario you should call the heop NYU office for inquiring about the emails
Alright. I just realized I accidentally put HEOP on my common application submission. I meet all the requirements (income criteria), but I am not a NY resident. I forgot to uncheck the HEOP conisderstion question before submitting cuz I thought u didn’t have to be NY reisdent. Should I call admissions and let them know? Or will they automatically not consider me because I am out of state applicant. Hope u guys can help~ thanks in advance!
@idkkk2018 I also got an invitation. Did your invitation say that they are considering you for opportunity programs (HEOP/C-STEP), and to register for the group interview on the upcoming Tuesday or Thursday?
@FIRSTYEAR2019 if you got an email invite that is a good sign and you should go asap . Do you live in new york? What are your stats ?
@FIRSTYEAR2019 I got the same email for HEOP/C-STEP.
Anyone knows how many spots NYU has for HEOP applicants for ED1?

Hi everyone I am planning on applying to NYU through HEOP ED2. I am applying to Tandon school of engineering. These are my stats:

Gpa:3.4
Race:Asian
Taking college courses because my school don’t offer any APs we have all college level classes
Extra curriculars:
NYU Step program at NYU Langone hospital (NYU Science Technology Entry Program)
Ace mentor ship program at NYU tandon school of engineering

Recommendations:
My calc 2 teacher and my bio (genetics and genomics) teacher
Also the NYU STEP director is writing me a recommendation as well.
My parents income is really low like it’s lower than the category of the chart they gave, which is why I want to apply through HEOP.
My essay is about creating better roads in my country.
NYU is my dream school so please let me know what are my chance of getting in through HEOP.
heop is usually for students who showcase an academic disadvantage; in your case it seems like you have above average stats, you are definitely qualified for NYU though. What is your school that offers college courses in hs??
@loverose4565 you should probably look into the C-Step program which i think is a branch of heop, it is for science and math majors, which fits your case for tandon engineering. the stats required for c-step is above a 3.0, which u have. They also offer full financial aid just like heop. You probably have a better chance for C-step than heop.
I go to Bard high School early college. So Im taking all college courses and I graduate with an Arts diploma. However NYU don’t accept our credits that’s what I heard. Im currently taking Calc 2, Genetics and Genomics, Seminar, History of Africa(Elective) and Painting (Art). my parents showed their income: $12,000 which is beyond low than the average household income and thats why I was considering HEOP.
manhattan?
yes
