well, much to my disappointment, this was published a few days ago by nyulocal (nyu’s student blog) and gives a bit of insight on the new NYU president Andrew Hamilton:
This concerns me, as it seems that this new guy is going to have a pretty similar policy to Sexton. I also love how NYU refuses to waive the guys 65$ application fee and then implies that he’s too poor to pursue NYU.
What do you guys think of this? Do you think this new president will hopefully have a better outlook for students?
Also, as a “current student of NYU” I’m surprised you’re not familiar with this @lilmim23.
Most of this has nothing to do with Hamilton other than his $1.1 million apartment, which is considerably less than Sexton, and many other university presidents’, residences are.
That the Khari Jackson guy was a joke. His tweets were ridiculous and NYU was right.
@Fazioli Why did you apply ED1 and remain committed to that if you seem to hate the school so much? You keep making posts ragging on the school and how corrupt it is. Strange
Additionally, the issue with the kid not getting his fee waived and told my adcoms that he should find a different school is right of NYU. If someone can’t afford a $60 application fee, how can they afford a $60k+/yr Masters program that has little-to-no financial aid or scholarships.
Yeah, I know I’ve been kinda ragging on the school a bit, but that’s not because I hate it. I’m actually really glad (and consider myself very lucky) to get into NYU. There’s a lot of great things such as it’s study abroad programs, facilities, and amazing opportunities in New York. It’s just that I was a bit concerned/scared after finding all this disturbing info on NYU after getting in, and was starting to doubt myself and worry if this was the right choice after all.
Sorry for my nervousness to turn into negativity. I just wanted to see everyone else’s opinion and hope things aren’t as bleak as these articles say.
