NYU-Polytechnic Merger Approved

Washington Square News

It awaits only the regulatory approval required from the State of New York. NYU now has an Engineering school again after a hiatus of 35 years.

The future of the dual-degree program with Stevens remains to be seen.

More details will surely follow.

wow, NYU is just keep on getting bigger. Nice though!

CORRECTION: The version of this story that appeared in print incorrectly implied that the merger vote was already finalized. The board has informally committed to the merger, but the official vote has not yet occured.

Is the NYU article wrong in stating (not implying) that the vote from Poly already occurred? Why do you think Sexton make such a statement? Is there another "version" of this story that you can provide to us? Can you provide a link to another source?

It would be appreciated if you make a "correction" to a post that provided a sourcing, to provide a link to another source that substantiated your comment.

Thanks.

Vercingetorix, from what faculty have personally informed me, the merging is practically finalized and is simply awaiting a formal confirmation.

I copied and pasted directly from the end of the source that you provided. It's at the bottom.

Indeed. It is as I said -- what remains is for the final approval from the NY State regulators. I believe (as does the NYU administration) that this is all that is left for the merger to be finalized. The Universities have made their decision - is that not so? We should not engage in some talmudic "pilpul" here. It is a good thing that will occur. Let all rejoice in it.
