I am interested in applying to NYU’s pre-college program for summer 2016, and I have a few questions:
- Is good financial aid available? I want to do the 8-credit course, but it's quite pricy.
- Are students allowed to navigate Greenwich Village and the rest of Manhattan by themselves? I am currently doing a summer program in Oxford right now, and we cannot leave the accommodations unless we are in a group of two or more. Are students in NYU pre-college allowed to explore on their own, or do they have to be in a group at all times?
All answers are appreciated! If you would like to share your experience (if you attended the program), please feel free to do so. I am trying to get as much information as possible. Thanks!
I’m also interested in doing the program for summer 2016! I have been talking to previous students who did it in previous summers so maybe some of the information I found will help?
Off the posts I have seen and people I have talked to I’m pretty sure you can go off and explore on your own (Although, I am assuming they would suggest you bring someone). I know they have curfew at night so maybe they trust people to go and explore and return on time or then they will be concerned? But judging by NYU’s lack of actual campus and that they sometimes have precollege students commute to their studios and classes via subway supports that they don’t have a problem with it.
I’m pretty sure they have financial aid (I know they definitely give out merit-based-there is more info on their website about it), although, I haven’t heard any actual facts about this from previous students, some say they know people who got full rides, others say NYU doesn’t give out full rides for their summer programs because it is optional and just for enrichment.
But yeah this is a little late but this will hopefully bump it up
