NYU - PreMed - Spanish - - - A connection?

I was admitted ED class of 2009 to CAS...
With regard to my major.
I am premed, and pretty sure that I eventually would like to attend medical school. While I love science, and will take science classes, my real area of interest and passion is the study of Spanish language/Hispanic culture in general.
I am considering a Spanish major in NYU.
How would such a decision impact my desire to go to med school/ability to take science classes to prepare for the MCAT? Is the major strong in NYU, and would it be an asset or a "poor" decision in med school's eyes?

Any advice on this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks.
PS - I ask this because I was earlier enrolled in college, things didn't work out...I was premed there and a Bio major, and I absolutely was miserable...I like sciences, but I don't know if I could only do math/science for 4 straight years. thanks again.

med school cares about grades. don't major in a science, it only makes things harder for you.

Bump - - - - - - -

Indeed, med schools care about your gpa much more than your major. If majoring in Spanish is your passion, it will probably yield you a higher gpa, by all means, you should go for it.

I know people from NYU who went to med school with non-science majors. Of course you still have to do the basic pre-med requirements (a few science classes), but you can select whatever major you want. Just have strong grades, and a great MCAT score....what you majored in doesn't mean anything.

Good luck.
