NYU Regular Decision 2018 Discussion

@afromnc what exactly is the liberal study program? I got in it but as doing research I don’t like the sound of it …

International student from Nigeria…Just got accepted !!!

They met 100% Of Financial Aid at Polytech…
40,000 Grants/Scholarship
3,000 Work Study
15,000 Loans

Honestly Extremely Suprised. Difference between NYU and Northeastern is 1.5 Grand a year, but at NYU it’s nothing out of pocket…

@Lilkat9613 what did u originally opt for?

WHO SAID NYU IS STINGY WITH THEIR MONEY? lies. God bless Tisch and NYU.

I originally applied for college of arts and science :(

I am dying to find out about $$$.

@lilkat9613 I applied originally for English(end goal Creative Writing) at CAS. Gave them four choices for Liberal Studies campuses though. Got into Liberal Studies in London. Basically I will be taking a lot of my required courses while in London and NYC (sophomore year), then move into the CAS English program for Junior/Senior year. The coursework in the London program is right up my alley so I really like it, not to mention that studying abroad is a HUGE plus for me. I’ve found a lot of information on the web about the liberal studies program. Check it out before making up your mind. It probably really depends on your interests. Are you accepted for NYC or somewhere in Europe? Check out this link: NYU Local;

I think that maybe the difference in financial aid some people are talking about is the difference between merit based aid and need based aid. Merit aid might be given and automatically renewed (i.e. I received a presidential scholarship at BU, $20K per year, as long as my gpa remains at a certain level, stay enrolled, etc.), whereas financial aid based on need by definition is reevaluated each year based on the FAFSA. My family fills out the FAFSA and CSS each year for my brothers college and now mine. Hope that helps. I wouldn’t count on need based aid being promised each year.

Thanks @book05 ! Still waiting for the email here :(

Hmm…
They gave me a $20k/year Liberal Studies scholarship… BUT I will only be in Liberal Studies for a year before going into Tisch. Are they taking it away after the first year?

I’m gonna email them.

Are the scholarships found in the emails or on the portal? Still waiting for an email. Accepted on the portal, though.

On the same page as @notacommunist

Hahaha they’re “giving” my S $70,000/year in loans.

So are the college scholarships (CAS Scholarship, Tisch Scholarship, etc.) merit-based or need-based or both?

Did you guys get an email letting you know your financial aid package was available? If so I could stop refreshing Albert every two minutes haha

S has not received an email. We just looked at the admissions and financial aid portal within Albert.

Web site not loading and still no email, but likely going to Berkeley anyway.

Will not having my CSS non-custodial file affect whether or not I receive merit scholarships? I submitted it for sure, but maybe something screwed up and NYU didn’t receive it because it’s still listed on my to-do list.

It’s 3AM here I should prolly just sleep and check in the morning for a mail lol
