***NYU Regular Decision Class of 2021 Discussion***

I got into Steinhardt… However, I will not be attending due to the fact I was only given 1.5k in financial aid… Good luck to everyone else who will be attending.

@imasian111 @atown2017 there is a FB page for class of 2021 Tandon students

@SpicyRamen Found it: https://www.f ace b oo k.com/groups/1342875305752820/

I’d love to go to NYU, but they gave me an FA package made up entirely of loans and my Pell Grant despite the fact my total household income is less than $24,000 a year. I just wanna be really rich when I’m older so I can take care of my family and send deserving kids to these elitist schools. Seriously, I would just pay a student’s tuition right there.

this is really petty but what are u guys gonna wear during open house? I like to plan my outfits ahead of time lmao

@camwow You mean the Weekend on the Square thing? I’m gonna wear something casual, but stylish, gotta make good first impressions with teachers/students just in case!

thanks!

and more important question: Is it necessary to go on both dates (22 and 23)? my sis lives in nyc and wants me to stay at her house for that weekend. will the 23rd just be a repeat of the 22nd or will the 2 days have different activities going on?

Short answer: no. Long answer: Depends on how much you want to do and if it is offered to your “school”, Tandon only offers a program on the 22nd, but others offer both days. By attending 2 sessions, you would hear the same spiel in the beginning, but you would have more time to explore the different programs throughout the city. Luckily, since you’ve got free housing, I’d recommend just attending the 22nd and then exploring the city on the 23rd. There is no exclusive information given on either day.

Anyone have recommendations for NYC must-see’s? Or stuff nearby? I know I want to hop over to Hoboken to Carlo’s Bakery, but besides that I only know of stereotypical buildings, etc.

I officially declined my offer of admission today. The FA offer was too bad, and I’m thinking that’s a common theme this year. Good luck to all of you on the waitlist!

@PAwind98 not sure how far it is, but definitely check out levain’s chocolate chip walnut cookies
also: big gay ice cream (most famous one is the salty pimp but is like 5$ for a cone…)
dominique ansel bakery for cronuts (crossiant donuts) (:

well, I know steinhardt’s session (my school) is on the 22nd, and CAS and stern’s sessions (trying to transfer into either stern or cas econ soph year and minor in business) are only on the 23rd, so would it be weird if I attended those two sessions?

@camwow You only need to attend one day - you should definitely attend on Saturday, the 22nd since that’s when the Steinhardt session will take place. You should go onto Albert to the Events page to register…

@Fishnlines29 okay thx!

@PAwind98 How long will you be in the city? if just for the weekend, I suggest you spend your time in and around campus! There is lots to do. Once you’re attending, you’ll have plenty of time to tour the city!

@atown2017 @indiahyland I just called the FA office about “Award access not available”, and they said that for some reason my CSS to my NYU account, but they just did a quick search on their College Board database and found me. They could see that I submitted it to NYU on time and everything, so they’re going to set it up now for me and award me (hopefully) with financial aid.

They didn’t know how long it would take, but they did say that they wouldn’t penalise me for this since I did submit it on time and everything. No idea how my CSS application wasn’t connected! Oh well :)>-

I was admitted and I accepted both the decision and the FA. I have received an email about the weekend on the square event, but I haven’t received anything else about like setting up an email. When should i be receiving one?

@SpicyRamen do you think I should call? I sent the financial aid office an email telling them that my FA still says award access not available but they haven’t responded yet. did you call the FA office?
also if you don’t mind me asking, what did you put down for the amount of money you were willing to pay for university for the year 2017-2018?

@soccerguy13 You can try logging in to Albert and clicking on the email tab, there may be instructions there.

Also, if that doesn’t work: From the website: “Email is an important tool NYU uses to pass along critical information about the enrollment process. Soon after you confirm your enrollment, you’ll be assigned an NYU email address and given instructions on how to create your account. Once created, please check your email regularly. Contact NYU’s global IT Service Desk at AskIT@nyu.edu if you have trouble creating your account.”

@indiahyland that number wont have a lot of bearing on your offer. When did you send the email to FA?

@indiahyland i had a similar problem where I had “award access not available.” Gave them a call on Friday and found out they were missing my social for FAFSA. I gave them my social and received my financial aid package later that day.
