***NYU Regular Decision Class of 2021 Discussion***

I applied as CAS Urban Design & Architecture Studies.
I have like a negative chance of getting in though because my test scores are no way near what they consider “average”. :frowning:

@monserox Same. My GPA and SAT puts me in lower 30% of admitted class. I know how you feel. I applied as CAS Undecided

Hi guys, I was accepted ED to NYU this past month… if you guys have any questions about the process or NYU as a whole please feel free to dm me!

@Palak786 I would say that the RD round this year is going to be extremely competitive… not to scare any of you guys but the results came back from the ED and they only accepted some 26% of the applicants. To what I have read on the admission page a little over 8,000 people applied and some 1,600 applicants were offered admission into NYU

@buzzybee99 I’m not sure that’s necessarily true. According to NYU, “Back in December, the admission committee determined that we would defer a larger than typical cohort of candidates (roughly 400) to our Early Decision II and Regular Decision rounds for admission. In previous years, we would defer relatively few students who applied for Early Decision admission. Our rationale then was that applicants applied to receive an early decision on their application and we aimed to provide them with closure on their application with NYU. The release of the new SAT in March 2016, however, suggests that we needed to act more conservatively and review a larger cohort of Early Decision candidates along with our Regular Decision applicant pool.”

Does anyone know the acceptance rate for Tandon? Is it easier to get into Tandon compared to the rest of them

i also feel sort of defeated because my ACT scores aren’t that great.

My SAT scores are nowhere near average as well. NYU does do holistic admissions so that boosts my confidence just a bit

Thanks @buzzybee99 However, I would ofc not be relieved after hearing about this competitive pool. Also, regarding everyone’s concern about the SAT and ACT scores, NYU has optional test sending policy. I know nobody might be applying without these scores, but if the scores do put you at a major disadvantage, you could possibly take a risk without the scores!

@buzzybee99 if you don’t mind stating, what were your stats?

@Palak786 NYU is NOT test optional.

Does anyone know how the acceptance rate is like for the Global Liberal Studies? Can I possibly get in with a 3.4/4 GPA and 1450 new SAT? I feel that it’s extra hard cuz I’m an international student from Canada…

@Fishnlines29 have a look at this: http://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/how-to-apply/all-freshmen-applicants/standardized-tests.html

@Palak786 Yes, tests are required. You have a choice of what test to take but they are still required. Test optional means you do not have to send tests at all if you don’t want to.

NYU is test flexible not test optional

I logged into albert (NYU’s portal), and it says that my date of application was January 2… but I submitted my common app on January 1… anyone know if this is just a minor thing, like when it was downloaded? Or should I look more into it? Anyone else see this in their portal?

@foodnetwork I’m gonna hope it was the date of download for the application…because it doesn’t make any sense. I submitted also on Jan 1st and got it saying date of application was Jan 3rd.

@MuffinLord1 I think we’re good. My app was downloaded on the second, but at the top of my common app it says “COMPLETED 1/1” ;))

On my NYU Albert Portal, in the checklist, the standardised testing requirement has been ticked off but the school transcript still has not been ticked. Is this normal? Since, school transcripts are supposed to go directly from my school, I am panicking whether they have actually received my entire application or not!

@Palak786 Don’t worry… It might just be that the mid-year report is missing… Once your school sends that, you’ll have your “tick” mark
