Does everyone’s (those who applied for financial aid) financial aid info say: “If the aid year is not activated, your award information has yet to be determined” or “NYU 2018 financial aid not available”??
Mine says that it is yet to be determined.
@Philosophists123 - I am sure that colleges obtain your first generation status from the information provided regarding parent education, so you should be all set. Best of luck to you!
@SternAspirations mine says “Award access not available.” I don’t think it means anything other than possibly where they are at in reviewing your financial aid information.
Allow me to rephrase: Does anyone’s (those who applied for financial aid) financial aid info NOT say: “If the aid year is not activated, your award information has yet to be determined” or “NYU 2018 financial aid not available”? Is there a thrid option?
@SternAspirations I don’t think anyone has “NYU 2018 financial aid not available.” I think you’re referring to “Award access not available.” Which is what I have in the 2018 section of my Albert financial aid summary.
@SternAspirations I applied for FA, and mine says “Award access not available”.
@getaclucy no, there is no “2018 section” in my albert financial aid summary
Applied for FA, and says “Award access not available”. Does anyone’s portal have more than High School Transcripts and Standardized Tests listed as received? Since there has been no followup about needed items, we assume it’s fine but wondered if anyone has their other submitted items listed?
@momof3co nope, I just have the HS transcripts and standardized testing. And, yes, if they haven’t contacted you then everything should be just fine
@SternAspirations I don’t know what your financial aid portal looks like but mine does have a 2018 section. It’s not like another page or anything, just a section on the table/chart (idk what to call it).
@momof3co those two things are the only things that are supposed to show up in the submitted items list.
@getaclucy hmm there is no chart/table on my financial aid page…? it just says “Select the appropriate aid year above to view your award information. If the aid year is not activated, your award information has yet to be determined” There is no option to select any appropriate aid, so I just assumed that this is because they haven’t determined my aid, while yours is ready (hence why you get the “2018”) but can’t be accessed until the decisions are out?
@SternAspirations hmm weird I just assumed everyone had the table, but that was probably a bad assumption to make because I have multiple aid years on mine as I attended precollege there and applied and was accepted last year as well (long story). That seems like a logical conclusion you have made.
@getaclucy you were accepted last year? I don’t get it…
@getaclucy haha well that clears things up! So I’m not the only one who doesn’t have this option of chosing the year then? And there is no one who has something else in the financial aid? I am asking because this seems to be a slightly more reasonable indication of the outcome when compared to the whole housing dilemma…
@philosphists123 Like I said, long story, but basically I applied and was accepted last year but couldn’t afford to go so I had to turn it down and I had planned to attend a different college (which is why I didn’t defer my admission) but ended up deciding to take a gap year before starting college to get a job and save up money.
@getaclucy Do you think it is more likely to get accepted if you do not apply for financial aid?
@philosphists123 only if you are an international student. If you are a domestic applicant my understanding is that they are need blind.
My FA Summary page looks like this. I didn’t do summer programs at NYU and I also didn’t apply for FA.

@nyuhope17 does that mean you got in? My FA summary page looks nothing like that
