I have no idea. I don’t think so but I don’t know why different people’s are different. I was worried because some threads from last year had multiple years activated (2015-2017 for example) and mine just had the one. Maybe it’s because people did summer programs since @getaclucy said hers had multiple years and she’s been considered for multiple years.
mine looks the same as @nyuhope17 except I just have a couple more years below 2018 as well.
@nyuhope17 @getaclucy this is what mine looks like: https://■■■■■■/dqKHFa
@philosphists123 I don’t think it means anything. I’m looking at the ED thread and it looks like people got in without this change and some people who said they had this change didn’t get in.
@getaclucy are your extra years before 2018 or after?
I really doubt it means anything @philosphists123
@getaclucy ok. I was just wondering because I have a church friend who got accepted last year and goes there now. He is well taken cared of, and his parents are very wealthy. He said he didn’t apply for financial aid. I asked him if he could chance me, and he said I have a fair shot at LSP, but not really at CAS.
@philosphists123 you’re totally fine. Applying for financial aid does not put you at any sort of disadvantage (as long as you’re not an international student). The AdCom never even sees your financial profile when making admission decisions.
@philosphists123 I think you posted about being first generation and I think that counts for a lot. Good luck!
@nyuhope17 before 2018. I have 2015, 2016, and 2017. It wouldn’t be possible for people to have years past 2018 as financial aid information has not yet been submitted for years past that.
That makes sense thanks!
Decisions will be released as early as Thursday March 30th. Financial aid advisor told me this
were MLK scholars already notified lol
@myreeeeen yes MLK and Dean’s Scholar recipients were notified last Friday.
do you guys know if it was easier to get into nyu for people who applied early? I know the acceptance rate is about the same but I saw the ED results thread and several people with GPAs even lower than mine (3.9W) got into stern/cas…
@Kosmkkk
10th of March
@camwow the acceptance rates are almost exactly the same for ED and RD. The only difference is if you apply ED you are competing against a smaller pool of applicants. The reason people with lower GPAs might have gotten in is likely because the AdCom liked their ECs, recs, and essays. There are many factors that go into the admissions decisions, not just GPAs and test scores.
@getaclucy is it also because the pool of applicants are less competitive, since they will not be likely to apply to the ivies or top 20 schools?
@camwow no. ED Applicants are just as competitive. While some schools will admit less qualified applicants through ED, NYU is not one that does that. You will need to have a competitive application to be admitted whether you apply through ED or RD.
@getaclucy alrighty thanks for the helpful info! just wondering, do you know where you can get this kind of information from?
