@collegesplzz I see. Thanks. It’s just odd to see a deposit option of $1k for Fall 2017 when some cannot see that or even log onto the portal.
@invent0210 if you’ve clicked around enough to start a housing application then you automatically get the housing section on Albert and you can pay the housing deposit. It doesn’t mean you’re accepted. It can just mean that you started a housing application
@invent0210 There is NOTHING that indicates acceptance prior to actually getting an acceptance! These rumors fly around year after year. Do not make yourself crazy over them.
Decision day is technically April 1st (or if they follow last year, they came out last March 31st around 5pm)
does Stern offer interviews to RD applicants? didn’t received one, should I be worried? and is there a chance for them to release the decision earlier than 4.1, since Ivies are doing 3.30 this year.
@Fishnlines29 What about the scholarship letters? The ‘likely’ letters they used to give out?
And everyone agreed in previous years that getting ‘freshman’ did correlate with acceptance.
While you are right that some things may not indicate acceptance, you cannot be so absolute.
Do you think they keep any record of your parents at nyu? My mom applied to nyu when she was in high school as a safety, and it was the only school she didn’t get into lol. I’m 99% sure it won’t affect anything, just wondering
@drowning2021 I highly doubt it
How do you guys calculate unweighted gpa for NYU? My school only gives weighted gpa.
@drowning2021 no way; that’s WAY too much effort to try to track down a single parent from the thousands and thousands of applicants they’ve had over the years. and you’re probably not the only one in that situation, you have nothing to worry about!
@Maggie1224 No one has confirmed this yet, but it seems to me like only international students get interviewed. So if you’re not international, you shouldn’t be worried at all, in my opinion
when do RD come out?
@Maggie1224 Don’t be worried about not receiving an interview. They do offer interviews to RD applicants but they only give out a few a year and they do it mostly if there is an applicant they feel they might be interested in but that didn’t put everything they would like to know in their application. There is a chance that decisions will go out earlier, but it might go out on April 1. You should receive an email from NYU in the next week detailing when and how to receive your decision.
also, what was the lowest GPA NYU has accepted in the recent years?lol
Hi guys! Can you tell me how likely NYU is to accept an international student with financial aid? Does applying for fin aid significantly lower chances of admission for internationals? Thanks!
@SternAspirations I’m an international student from China
@getaclucy thanks for the information!
does anyone know if it’s possible for someone accepted into Tisch to take classes at other colleges, such as Steinhardt or CAS if you want to double major or minor in something else?
@sou1998 yes, but it really depends. If you ask for a lot of aid, then you’re chances aren’t the best unless they really really want you for some reason. If you ask for just a little bit, then it just really comes down to the quality of your application, I’d say!
@SternAspirations when you apply for financial aid, do you request a certain amount?
@indiahyland I don’t know about Tisch in particular, but I know that most schools will allow you double major or minor at another school. If you’re accepted that is definitely something to talk to your academic advisor about, as they will be able to give you more details about how to do that and if it’s possible with the majors and minors you are interested in.
