I’ve read many threads and articles now and I can say with great confidence that if your financial aid has “2018” in it then you’ve been accepted. If it doesn’t have the number, you’ll most likely be rejected. So far, no one w/o the “2018” FA change (at least judging from a number - not all - threads) has been accepted (I’m not judging from the early decision applicants this year - I’m making the assumption that it is different for early decision applicants given the time frame!)… here’s an article for those of you who are looking for proof: https://nyulocal.com/breaking-down-the-college-confidential-myths-1e9e6ac1e7c5
Did anyone not apply for financial aid here? I didn’t apply for it and under “Select Year to View” there isn’t any years to show and it just says “award access not available”. Does the “2018” thing not apply to people who did not apply for financial aid?
@Rav115 Same here Rav.
^^ @SternAspirations I clicked on ‘Financial Aid Summary’ tab and ‘Accept/Decline Financial Aid’ tab and they both gave me the “Select aid year to view – award access not available” and it won’t let me click on anything else D: bad news argh
@Rav115 Yeah I didn’t apply either so I’m wondering about that too.
Welp here goes my hopes and dreams. No change in FA at all. Bye NYU i guess…
I didn’t apply for financial aid and I have the 2018 NYU award access not available. In the ED round people were admitted without the change
Also the mobile Albert doesn’t look the same as the regular Albert for any of this
Guys, the financial aid change does not mean anything, the only thing that might is the housing change. Don’t worry, we’ll all know soon. Don’t stress about this.
@SternAspirations That is simply not true and you have no idea of the time frame.
@jkimchi D had same message and D was accepted.
Don’t try to read into what the portal says or doesn’t say. I can tell you all sorts of wacky changes will happen (back and forth) and whatever, you can’t read into it! Just a few more days and you will have your answers. Hang in there and good luck!!!
wow this thread does not stress me out at all nope i am totally confident and not anxious whatsoever
Knowing I’ll get rejected from my dream schools combined with no more Club Penguin hurts so bad omg
@azashadow i thought i coudn’t hurt more bUT THEN YOU MENTIONED CLUB PENGUIN WHY IS THE WORLD SO CRUEL
LIKE TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO PLAY ON CLUB PENGUIN SO I’M IN SUCH A DEPRESSIVE MOOD THIS WEEK… That was my childhood how am I going to vent my feelings now!!!
@Fishnlines29 you have no idea how badly I want what you’re saying to be true. What I mean by the time frame for the ED applicants is that they applied earlier in the process and it only seems natural that their process is different in many ways (I remeber that has been discussed and also judging from what I’ve read, a lot seems different including the timing of the housing change etc etc).
For those of you wondering about the FA change for people who didn’t apply for FA, I read on several threads that the “year change” (in this case, that 2018 comes up) still applies and happens to people irregardless of whether they applied for FA or not.
I am a deferred ED applicant. I never set up a FAFSA or whatever profile cuz I am not eligible. NYU asked me to submit/ignore those in December and early Feb and I just ignored them, but now seems like it is changed to 2018.
@SternAspirations I dont have the option for FA 2018 but it did say Award access not available.
so is this rejection you are saying? LOL
@giriboy I have the same, and I think so :’( keep in mind that this doesn’t apply for early decisions applicants, but there are so many things that are different for them compared to RD applicants it appears to me. My advice to anyone right now is: if you don’t have the year, I strong suggest you assume a rejection. If you have the year, still assuming a rejection won’t hurt. Bottom line: I think that it is a wonderful sign if you do have the year.
I’ve decided that it seems most reasonable to “accept” that I’ll most likely get a rejection. This will probably make it easier, and it I somehow get in, it will make the hapiness 10 times more intense. Consider this my dash of philosophical contribution to these college thread phenomemons: It’s hard to lose if you assume that you’ve already lost.
Don’t try to be mean but… @SternAspirations if you really get rejected I guess that is partly because you are so obsessed with nonsense like this
