I applied to Tandon and I don’t have award access. Does anyone have this issue too?
@SternAspirations I just went through last year’s 2020 regular decision discussion forum. I see multiple people who got the FA change but was flat out rejected. same goes for the other way. there may be a “slight correlation” but to me, doesn’t look as reliable as some people make it out to be. although there’s really only one way to find out and thats waiting until Thursday when official decisions are released!
If I don’t have 2018 housing or financial aid, do you think it’s safe to say I was rejected? It’s okay if it is, be honest please
@oviandhisbros I do. users here are saying it’s because of starting a summer housing application. Do you also have the housing tab in albert that leads you to the bursar office (where you can make housing deposits)?
@ktf1117 indiahyland went through last year’s thread, and it seems like they may have changed it up last year. Had this been in any of the previous years, then I’d definitely say that you’re gonna get rejected. However, since it seems like it changed last year or so, I’d say: don’t loose hope, but don’t be too hopeful - this advice really applies to anyone anyways, irregardless of who they are and where they applied
I have no housing tab, no financial aid access with no years to view either. What does this all mean?
@anshikka hopefully nothing, it isn’t perfectly clear and it’s best to just assume a rejection - if you get rejected, it doesn’t feel as bad as it would have otherwise, and if you get accepted, you’ll feel a million times better if you have this mentality
also that article that basically states that the FA change is a pretty reliable sign of acceptance was written back in 2014. it may still hold true, but according to last year’s thread, I’m not so sure. it even states in the article that even when the FA change was believed to be an accurate indication, there were still some outliers (people who had the change got rejected; people who didnt have the change got accepted)
My housing says Summer 2017, and I have New York, Washington, and London with summer access to all applications but no student tab.
The fact that admissions officers from NYU have officially responded to both the FA and Housing correlation theories should serve as enough evidence that there is no basis behind it-- if their was, they would simply fix it or disable the feature until the day of decisions. I’d also be skeptical of articles and evidence citing general correlation, because it’s really easy to come to incorrect conclusions when you are specifically looking for it.
ok @ everyone feeling super anxious and upset because they don’t have the FA change.
ZaGongShow never got the FA change but was accepted to Stern.
Seeniebeenie only got the FA change 3 hours before decisions were released.
Jenmeijli also got the FA change right before decisions were released.
Swimmer1025 did not have the FA change but was admitted with a full tuition scholarship.
Pizzaandpeonies commented “FA change is NOT your best bet. it has been fixed for a year.”
Classof2020x had the FA change but was waitlisted to Stern.
Penn1248 had the FA but was also waitlisted.
Momhs2016 daughter did not have the FA change but got into Tandon.
this information is all from the class of 2020, regular decision applicants. and this isn’t even all of the “proof” I found that FA change means absolutely nothing. hope this helps!

Remember that NYU’s admissions process is holistic, so we’ll be looking at your essays and extracurriculars in addition to your GPA & tests
