@dancemom2024 Thank you so much. We are from the west coast. There is no local network support in the east, which means a lack of rapid response in emergency situations. A potential second wave of coronavirus is what we’re concerned about now.
And as I know, many NYU students felt unhappy about the way of being asked to move out of the dorms and signed up a petition to school. I wonder what happened there.
I can only speak for my own daughter and what she relates of herself and her friends, but it is that while there was a lot of unhappiness in the moment they understood after looking at all the factors involved why it happened. It seems NYU got caught between trying to be least disruptive to students and having to react to events taking place faster than anyone expected, with the added complication of having to make the final call during spring break (And NYU boxed, packed and shipped at its own expense any student belongings left behind, if students allowed them to do so. My daughter’s belongings arrived last week.) I’d also note NYU is continuing to pay any students who had on campus jobs.
hey guys I was waitlisted for Gallitin but on my waitlist form checked off silver, steinhardt, liberal core, and cas as well. What are the chances for this year considering corona
@dancemom2024 Thank you, dancemom2024, for the link. @SJ2727 Thank you for sharing your experience. These inside stories are very helpful to reduce the uneasiness caused by the unknown.
It may also be of interest that from this coming week, NYU is making some of its residence halls available to frontline medical workers. (There is also one hall that still houses and feeds students who could not leave.)
(You have probably already seen in the news that various colleges have been asked/offered to help in various ways.)
For those who got rejected or waitlisted, UPITT is another great option with similar college life experiences in Urban environment. They have plenty of great research opportunities and resources in the 6 hospitals around the campus. No need to feel bad or disappointed!
ED is great if you do not have to compare financial offers among schools, and you can still get a merit scholarship. If you have a dream school with competitive SAT / ACT score, it would be advised to do ED to have a peace in mind. RD is not good unless you have super extra curriculum and SAT / ACT score. My younger son will definitely go for ED.
This fall may only U.S. students given most borders will still be closed. U.K. student can opt for the NYU London, Italy student can go to NYU Florence, etc. but it may still be too early for any student to travel outside their own country for college. I know they are working on various scenarios for the fall and summer in already online.
@TexasBelle428 So sorry some people were rude. We will miss you at NYU but I hope you love the school you finally select. If not, study hard, achieve and try again. Some of my fav NYU friends are transfers. Wishing you lots of success wherever you go.
^ I’m assuming the caps were part of the swag ordered for admitted students weekend which didn’t end up happening … It’s nice to know they mailed them out!
