Hey, what do you think of this club?? I understand their viewpoints, but they have no way of "playing their game" with out breaking the very laws they value so much. If they really want to get their point across, they should go do a march in washington or something more productive.

they did it for publicity. and publicity is what they got.

both the repblican group and the protestors got a h ell of a lot of news coverage, so basically, both sides win.

anyone know if ppl actually won the republican game and found the illegal immigrant? (jw...)

Your opinions matter.

I was there for the protest today! It was absolutely amazing. I'm so happy that i'm going to this school next year

thanks to them, I was on national news :)

I had to pass by that because I live in Hayden and had class in Cantor and I just LOLed.

you all know that the City officials dissaprove of this protest. And i agree with them, this could have been done with more taste. Playing a silly game called "catch the immigrant" seems immature-ish. I think the officials would have been more likely to respond positively to a regular ralley.
But on the bright side, if i get into this school, i do look forward to coming here, because at least it is politically active. I think it is good to see kids stirring up some commotion about important issues that we face today. Many sit idle, which is what i believe led to this build up of issues today.

ilyasaber14:

Glad to hear that you're coming here and plan to be active. Too many people arrive at NYU and then don't do anything special while they're enrolled. It's definitely possible to make a difference while you're here.

That being said, I think it's foolish to believe that our times have more issues than any other. Since time immemorial, people have lamented their current situation and fondly looked back on a time period made rosy by fond memories. I don't believe "now" is worse than it was before - if anything, it's better.

I think those are issues of memory and nostalgia more than things actually being worse or better in the present time. Also, did you watch 20/20 last night? A part of the program expressed the exact sentiment you mention in your last sentence.

QNYergrl:

I meant to express exactly what you did in your first sentence. I guess I wasn't very clear. Darn words. :)

Actually, I didn't watch 20/20. (I haven't done so in a few years.) It's a thought I've had for a long time, and I'm not surprised other people have thought the same thing. I don't think it's a stunningly original idea, but it's an important one.

Let me reiterate: Your opinions matter.

Just curious what laws you believe the NYU Republicans break?

FireBadTreePrett:
Sorry, i misread the article. I thought they were going to catch an actual illegal immigrant, but that was not the case.

I side with the College Repbulicans (for the record, I attend NYU, politically speaking I am a moderate New England Republican, but am not an active member of this club).

While not everyone agrees with this game as being a means to encourage debate, they have a right to play it even if it's offensive.

whats wrong with immigrants?

wait
so i missed somethin.
(maybe cause i dont watch news hardly ever cause im too busy with school)
